It's never too late, though the market for domain is quite tough today because most of the good domains were already taken. If you have a nice choice of domains you can still get potential profit on it. I can't say if its lucrative but it depends on the upcoming projects.

do you mean buying domain names that are related to decentralization and blockchain? (like buying bitcoin.com for example)
or do you actually mean some sort of decentralized domain registry, meaning something like NameCoin was doing which is decentralized itself?
If you find good domain names with targetted keywords related to blockchain and crypto then you should go ahead and buy them and do keep in mind to buy them at bargain price to ensure you will get some profit when you will try to resell it.
Domain flipping? I doubt that you can still get a good blockchain domain name today, you are late as least 3 years because there's a lot of people who have invested on it already and I'm sure they are now ripping the rewards.
It's getting late to do that. Almost all of block chain related domains are already on hold. Still there's much more of those domains if you consider new addresses and all of them has at least some value.

Yes, you will benefit so much from it, though that will happen when the time come, imagine buying the blockchain domain of top companies like facebook and amazon, and this companies now realize this, they can pay you thousands of dollars just to get this domain back for themselves, I think this is a very good idea and I am going to also work with it for the future, I believe in no time, they will come finding me for the domain.
