you are right, that the lottery is now less demand by everyone. because lotttery is just a thing that less input or an advantage to those who use it. so you better use or make other games like poker or dice

Most of lottery price is not expensive but you really need to buy a lot so that you can win that amount though. Because they need to take some percentage for them too, the more you buy the higher payout will be and they will earn a lot too. Let say 1 btc price and 1% they take it will be 0.01btc. That is like free money for them though

Yeah your right, and in my opinion i think only few people here are interested on some lotteries its because people used to gamble on those casino where they used to get fun and excitement right there, aswell as people might gonna find this confusinh since the chances to win in lotto is very low, So OP if you find it unique and well be good to run well let the game rolling, but don't expect to much that people will like this idea.

Most of lottery price is not expensive but you really need to buy a lot so that you can win that amount though. Because they need to take some percentage for them too, the more you buy the higher payout will be and they will earn a lot too. Let say 1 btc price and 1% they take it will be 0.01btc. I think addicted gamblers will love a lottery of this forum. Other lotteries here did not have success and failed in very short time. Personally I am not interested as I am becoming more of a reasonable gambler and following news and tipsters on soccer bets. But let's see maybe this lottery of yours can be something unique although I don't believe it will be different from the others before.

I think this is a goog idea, lottery in bitcointalk can make all users to participate and active in this forum. So, this forum will be the best bitcoin forum as specify and general forum. The problem is every time the same, not only provably fair but confidence to the owner (about like and dislike).

I think having a small-pot/small entry fee lottery might be an interesting thing to add and something that I might participate in, but there would definitely have to be a lot of trust with the host of the lottery and they would have to prove themselves (or have proven themselves at some point in the past) if we ever wanted to see something like this work. It might be possible, but there are a lot of variables and thing associated with everything.

I think OP has left the thread much time ago but all this feedback will surely be helpful to someone new who is interesting to run something similar. What I have seen people usually don't show any interest and neither me I will not join an lottery which has small amount to win.

I think its a little bit hard because we are talking money here folks. Just as what you said you could possibly create alts which you could know the number results. I do like the idea on a lottery but the hindrance is on how to show to winning numbers. I would suggest to make a live video on facebook during draw date and showing the number i guess.

At least you can tell the time when you will do the randomizing and also recorda video starting at that time. I saw many people doing such things for lotteries.
As for the idea of such a lottery - I think it will be interesting for many people and can even encourage some new to use Bitcoin and become members of Bitcointalk forum, so good luck Wink

I will instead of using your energies on this idea of lottery better come out with something more interesting which people like. I am regular player of lottery but physical one to win some jackpot not few cents. You can take more time to make research and missing features of current gambling sites can be plus point for you. People will jump to participate or play if you have something unique instead of lottery idea. Though thread is outdated but it still can guide new persons to understand what bitcointalk community want and what don't want like lottery concept. i think it will be fun if there is a lottery on here, but i would love to give suggestion, the price don't have too expensive because not all people on here have much bitcoin and they can't join too if the price is to expensive. maybe in just 0.001 and the limit participant is 100 people, and then if its reach 100 people, the lottery will start begin to choose the winners number. after that, the lottery will start a new round and so on.

I think its a good thing to have some lottery over here but it has to attract as much people as possible on the whole forums. You do not have to bet with high numbers or gamble just pick a number and you will maybe win a lot of bitcoins.

Also there has to be many people in the lottery so you will never have to pay a lot to get in the lottery.

i think lottery is better be done on a website rather than forum and escrow and live drawing of the winning number and streaming the video is a must have.

Website or escrow I guess it is just the same both of it will have a chance to scam it anyway because it is a big money you got there so they still can hypnotized by the huge money there. Unless you really using some reputable escrow with great trust I think this will minimize your money being stole

But how will you know if you are really lucky on raffle or not? Because if you never try it you will never know the result then. But that doesnt guarantee that your friend win the next raffle because this raffle thing is pure luck or may be you can still boost your winning chance by buying it again with your money but still that is not a guarantee and I dont think your friend could keep on winning it unless it is not provably fair

You should check out https://www.reddit.com/r/millionairemakers/. They hold a drawing each month (its's not technically a lottery because you don't have to pay to enter) and they use an algorithm that is dependent on the blockchain (I'm not sure exactly how it works). If you enter into the drawing, you are supposed to pay a dollar to whoever wins. I think they get around tax/legal problems by not calling it a lottery and not making people pay before they enter. Because of this a lot of people don't give their dollar even though they enter. I've been participating each month for a while now.

I would be very interested I think its a pretty good idea because the community gets closer because of this in my opinion, and its will also attract people because you can win money with it.

i don't know about miserably but i have seen many topics in this section about lottery on the forum and none of them stayer around and many of them could not get any attention at all, use search to find them.

i think lottery is better be done on a website rather than forum and escrow and live drawing of the winning number and streaming the video is a must have.

As I say nearly every time something like this gets brought up it won't work.
Why play a lottery when you can get the exact same provably fair odds on a dice site but instantly.
Sure, fun community thing I guess but when these things do get off the ground they are short lived. Hell I even did one myself once .015~ I think. It's just not worth anyone's time anymore.

I really like this, but I am still very hesitant towards how to determine the winners in the lottery, because if you rely solely on a website such as the number of the random.org weapon, it indicates that the game is very less attractive and less professional. Well that's the point.

If I escrow the amount I can't simply run away with the money.
If I twich the draw at random.org, I can't just make the draw for myself or one of my alts!

I was wondering, would you be interested in a bitcointalk.org lottery?

I didn't saw any and I'd like to organize one.
It could be a rather easy daily thread. Every day you can come and buy any amount of tickets you want at 0.01 btc then we could draw a number. Or maybe do it on a larger scale to have bigger prizes!

I'm totally willing to organize this and I could send enough funds to a trusted escrow so you can be sure I'm not going to run away with the coins xD
