It's too late to buy GPUs at this high price now, assuming bull season just started in April of this year then it's worth the risk but now this bull market has been here for long and before you get back your ROI anything might happen

One thing I like about the 2080ti is it's support or let's say performance on other algorithms apart from ETH, you can earn exact same $ you will earn when mining ETH on other algorithms like cryptonight and octopus presently, this is something most other cards can't keep up with

20xx series are very bad for mining. In such choice - only 30xx series. As for me - even 1660 series are better then 20xx.
About price. As for me - the price is too high. I can agree with $1200 or less. As i remember - MRP for 3070 was about $700 and $600 for 3060ti. I think that i can pay x2 from MRP for the cheapest GPU with the same hashrate. And this is true only when profit is huge.
I'm with you on this one, RTX2080Ti can do 60+MH and it's the most powerful one in the RTX2** series but for 1200$ is way too much, something around 950$ to 1000$ is still fair enough but about power consumption this card can do 150W at 60MH, still fairly good too

Boss philipma are you saying that there is no way to work something out to reduce the power consumption of a RTX2080Ti ? No core voltage and memory voltage tricks like other cards?

What's a reasonable amount to buy these cards right now?

1. RTX3070
2. RTX2080ti

Someone trying to sell for me at 1300$ for the RTX2080ti and 1500$ for the RTX3070, would you buy at this price or they are way too high?

the 2080ti is old tech that is a no.

the 3070 for 1500 is ?

at the moment it burns 50 cents a day and make 5.50 a day so 5 bucks net

1500/5 = 300 days so it is a bit pricey

1000/5 = 200 days fairly good.

When I look for a 3060ti or a 3070   I buy at 1000 or under.

So me personally would not buy it.

But I have a lot of gpus. I do not need it.

Philipma between gtx1660 super and RTX2080ti which is more better? I'm curious since you called RTX2080Ti a old tech card, how is that possible? Buying RTX2080Ti at 1000$ still ok I guess, that card can do 60MH if I'm correct

okay this is hard to explain. but I will try.

the mh is meaningless number.

60mh at 200 watts sucks

so that is why I dont want a 2080ti.

but there is a lot of info why I dont want  200 watt card doing 60mh.

I have

location 1
location 2
location 3
location 4
location 5

they all work right now since prices are good.

location 1 my basement den with the big tv.

i do not want 200 watt hot cards.
i want 120 or even 80 watt cooler quiet cards . I can do 2 pcs pulling about 400 watts in the summer.

location 2 my garage I can do 1500 watts in the summer i want cool quiet cards.

location 3 my friends office I can do 3 pcs with 2x 3070s. quiet not hot.

location 4 the warehouse i can do 1080tis and they are cheaper for me than 2080tis power cost hear and noise do not matter.

location 5 the warehouse but a different room.

at the moment we have 3x 30 amp circuits in this room we will add 7x 30 amp circuits.

since cards are stupid costly location 5 is a next year deal.

someone mentioned fees dropped and they fear profits are going to tank.

I pushed hard with cards from april 2020 to feb 2021.

I would love to have 100 cards by now but i dont.

I have around 58 all paid for and doing very well for now.

I am close to  3000mh.  it will do for now.

back to the five locations. actually 7 my partner buysolar has three rigs in 2 spots.

each one has different quality’s and different profit spots.

my garage right now means all coins go to me but power is going to be 20 cents starting this month.
same for my den.

so if I get any more cards I will be very carefull.

The RTX3070 is much better than the RTX2080ti in mining and has lower power consumption. An overpayment of $ 200 would be a good solution.
Before buying a video card, you should understand that the payback period can be equal to 2 years or up to 3 years in the worst case.
If you agree to such risks, then buy, if not, then look for other options

If you already missed buying some GPUs in January 2021 to February 2021 there is a huge chance that you are too late already, I'm talking about how you will get your ROI back because bull season won't be here forever, unless you get GPU for dirty cheap price, don't do it

Do not buy any GPU, to get your returns of investment it's going to take a whole complete year and that's if bull market still exists, better wait for July update and see what happens to ETH since it's the most profitable coin to mine

None of them because too expensive it better be patient and wait. Right now mine with what you got in your hands.
Also ETC doing well last 2 days, if price goes up i think it is going better than eth mining.

There is already a problem with Fees. They are really low, and have been really low for the past 2 weeks at least, this means something is going on.

EIP 1559 is going to reduce fees at least 50% so you can expect a drop in your income near to 50% less profit.

So basically: a 3070 makes around 5$ after electricity, but it will go to 2,5$ in just two months.
Do the maths. You are NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO ROI by the end of the year and then, ETH is going full PoS so you'll not be able to mine.

So its an obvious NO.

In fact, it's an obvious NO for almost all new gpus out there.

Some are buying cards and some are leaving the mining field, do you know that mining rewards will be extremely low in coming months? New ASICS are been released, EIP1559 is here too, if I were you I'd wait and see how things play out, also we don't know when bear market will return

It's 499$ for RTX3070 but buying at the double of that is still fair due to the fact that we are in bull season, you can still get your returns back but anything over a 1000$ is a no for me because the higher the price the longer your ROI will be
