That is true.

Well, Im basing it on fact that I had three real orders

1st - eBay - scammed
2nd - amazon - OK
3rd - asic labs - OK

I guess you can get a decent miner on ebay.. just bad luck on my side :/

Yes, only if the price is right so I can be sure to make profit in BTC terms  Smiley

From the ones I have seen it's about half they're dreaming you'll pay! On and off Ebay.

After I got scammed on ebay, I wouldnt recommend it :/

Plenty have been scammed by non-delivery ASIC products too.

1) Listen to DrG  Grin
2) If you can get one elsewhere and resell it on Ebay you're laughing.

Buying though I would not unless there was a significant price advantage
and then I would not expect to get it at a price I'd accept as there would be
keen interest - I'd rather have a bunch anyway at once rather than small
deposits frequently.

Our ASICs are pretty much single purpose devices - you can't even really
password crack sha256 with them because it involves x like in this
formula - sha256(sha256(x)).

Mining shares/contracts might be worth a look at but due diligence must be done there.

As a miner from 2011 I will tell new users there's only 1 reason to mine:

If the cost of obtaining the miner + electricity cost to run the miner for 1 year < the current price BTC * how many BTC can be mined by the device in 1 year

Use a mining calculator site like thegenesisblock.com to figure out projected BTC income.

Otherwise they is absolutely no point buying mining hardware.  If you have free/cheap electricity you have a narrow chance of making a profit, otherwise you are better off just buying the BTC directly and paying more attention to it's implementation.

No, because I think that the prices are overhyped right now and you will never be able to make a return on your investment... also if you just want to buy these to mine as a hobby I would wait as the prices will probably plummet next month with the expected rise in difficulty...
