I'll be putting my 4GB 470's back in action next week waiting on a old hp motherboard that can run 4 cards to get here, I'll post the Rainbowminer results once done.

How many coins are still minable with 4GB GPUs? I believe if you can find answers to this then you will know if it's a good investment or not, to me it's a big no no because I plan to hold my equipments for years to come and I don't want limited memory to be an issue

Can you dare build a rig with rx470 4gb in 2021? Is this still a good idea? The reason I asked is these 4gb GPUs are so cheap online right now, I can get a rx470,480, 570,580 4g memory for roughly 200 to 230$ right now, it's a very tempting offer, I do wish they are 8gb though
If you want to learn how to mine and build farms on your own, then 1000 dollars for 5 RX 470 video cards will be a good offer. In six months, the prices for video cards will fall and you can replace these video cards with more modern ones.
My 4x474 mining farm consumes 540 watts from the wall, but my power supply is Silver. On the Gold power supply, the power consumption will be about 500 watts. Daily profit 5-6 dollars

Mining crypto comes down to your electricity bills, if the bills are cheap you can mine with any graphic cards either 4gb or more it doesn't matter unless they aren't profitable at all, till now some are still using R9 390 to mine crypto whereas I can't use them because R9 390 are too power hungry

keep in mind that the resale value will drop as long as the silicon shortage stop, or if the next gen arrives. so you'd either have to get roi asap, or hope that if you can't get a decent roi you can sell it before the shortage is over. while 3070 might be more expensive, the resale value might be higher.

Some models will drop in price like a rock. Mostly the higher end ones. As newer & better higher end ones come out and their value priced version equivalents the last gen will drop.
The mid range will drop to the low range price.
The current low range will drop a little for people who don't care.

i.e. I can get a new whatever for $149 or $129 or $179
I can get a generation or 2 out for $49 or $79 or whatever.
It's for the people who are not gaming or mining but just want something more then the onboard graphics that come with their PC.

It's actually why IMO the RX 5xx and 4xx were still around. I even had a pile for people who wanted something other then the stock Intel but did not really need to spend the money on a GTX 1650 / 1660 so they got those....

All the above is my opinion and pure speculation. Don't spend money based on just what I say, DYOR and form you own opinion.

When I make an investment,no matter how small or big I don't plan any resell value at all.For example if I bought a 6 card rig with 4 GB cards at 1200 EUR or if I bought RTX 3070 at 1200 EUR my way of thinking is to use these products until they fail.I have a big advantage as where I am located now the energy is really cheap compared to other countries in Europe like 0.065 dollars for Kilowatt and this is the reason I plan on using any device I get to the maximum of their lifetime,I have been doing so since 2016 as some Rx 480 are still running for me and mining from that time.

I would for the only reason that I have a strong belief that Ravencoin can go up in value a lot in the next bull run of Bitcoin, more specifically at the 100.000 or more value of Bitcoin. For the moment I can find them at 150 EUR and buying a rig with six of them is affordable now as I can find one with 1000-1200 EUR,the same price of RTX 3070 at nowadays but 6 of these cards have more Ravencoin hash rate than a single RTX 3070 although they are not that efficient related to energy, but yes I would buy them for this reason.

The only thing that rx470 4gb are good for right now is Ethereum Classic and Ravencoin and yes they will take longer to get your ROI back unless you get them around 100$ each

The RX cards you have listed no. Some of the Nvidia stuff [1660 / 1650] ones yes.
The 470 / 480 / 570 / 580 were old and outdated before this entire shortage started. Once it ends they are scrap.
The Nvidia ones although old and outdated, are still newer then the ATI ones and will probably have SOME resale value.

At $200ea. No.
At $100ea. Ehh. I wouldn't do it personally but I could see why others would.
At $50ea. Yes

I don't know if you can still do this, you would need to check the lolminer thread, but there was a way where if you put in 1 card directly into the PCI 3.0 x16 slot of the motherboard, you could have it mining at a decent speed.

I think the way it worked was that it has x16 lanes and it communicates fast with the RAM and CPU and it is able to mine with a larger DAG. However this was couple of months ago and no idea if it still works.

And the other issue is you will need 1 motherboard per GPU which would make it take up too much space and make it less efficient.

They're cheap because others have already made that decision, clearly no.
