I know, old PayPal news from last week, but none the less cool seeing something I would never thought would occur a year or 2 ago:

Hey it's a start of something bigger, and hopefully users are intrigued enough to give it a shot instead of just tying it to their bank and credit cards like they normally do.

News from last week:

This is pretty good news since I am a PayPal user also...  Grin  Cheesy

there is a way for PP to do this properly and help BTC but i doubt they will do that.

it would be something like:
1. everybody who wants to buy/sell BTC has sign some agreement and put 2FA as obligatory
2. when buying they add their wallet + amount
3. paypayl 'escrows money' till it sees this on blockchain

so there would be 100% no refund on those deals

Probably something like this.  Also, I imagine both the buyer and the seller would have to have verified Paypal accounts, so no anonymity.

In any case, if the process of purchasing Bitcoin via Paypal is made simple, it will knock down some barriers to entry for millions of people.

So have they actually stated how exactly they'll be integrating it? I haven't seen any details at all and the mentions it gets from them are always small and vague.  Being able to spend bitcoins anywhere that accepts PP would be huge though and exactly what we need.
The hoops necessary for a business to jump through in order to accept bitcoin are already very small. Not only that but setting up an account with coinbase or bitpay would save a merchant a lot over what paypal charges. The merchant could use the fact that paypal accepts bitcoin as an excuse not to accept bitcoin directly or indirectly via coinbase/bitpay. This would cause users of bitcoin to not realize the cost savings associated with bitcoin.

From what I have read "braintree is going to accept bitcoin" and AFAIK there are no additional details above this availabe.

Looks more like they put the #bitcoin hashtag there to interject their marketing material into that feed.

Sell bitcoins using #paypal if you like receiving unsecured, reversible, and fraudulent payments.

The new commercial that says "can send bitcoin with a tap" is the first thing you now see when you go to paypal.com

I think it is coming soon Smiley
