Ever hear of the term.. White Gold......White Gold is Regular gold that is plated with Rhodium....

Not at all

White gold is 75:25 wt% with Pd. Before it was with Ni, but many people have an allergy on Ni - so it is Pd now

Wife drags me to the jeweler once a year to have her ring "dipped". Ring goes in dull...comes out BLING.... The thing was yellow gold when I bought it.....  The Wife calls it WHITE GOLD.. ...Wife is always right....

We got a seasoned vet right here

Why Rhodium? Is it going to moon like gold eventually?

Didn't think there were Rhodium bullion, but interesting.

Is it a rare metal like Platinum or Palladium?

It is PGM as Pt, Pd, Ru, Os and Ir

Rare, heavily industrially used

If we don't consider any radioactive metals, then is Rhodium one of the most rare metal (in terms of weight) to be found in the earths crust, Rhodium is much more rare than gold.

One of the things that gives gold value is that it have some interesting chemical properties and is considered beautiful to look at by many people. So beside being "beautiful" and rare then is it also useful.

I am not sure about what applications there is for Rhodium...

http://www.rsc.org/periodic-table/element/45/rhodium

"Uses:
The major use of rhodium is in catalytic converters for cars (80%). It reduces nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases.

Rhodium is also used as catalysts in the chemical industry, for making nitric acid, acetic acid and hydrogenation reactions.

It is used to coat optic fibres and optical mirrors, and for crucibles, thermocouple elements and headlight reflectors. It is used as an electrical contact material as it has a low electrical resistance and is highly resistant to corrosion"

....and now you know Cheesy

Rhodium seams very useful:
BUY BUY BUY!!
