Paypal is a bad idea, but
- snip -

psy,

If you don't get scamed, then you're just encouraging really bad habits in newbies.

I don't understand why you would want to do either.

because I need money on paypal?

Paypal is a bad idea, but I'll do it. You send first and pay the fees.
OP, you ready?

So now you just have to decide which of us you trust to actually send the bitcoins.

If you trust both of us, then you need to decide how sure you are that BTC will be higher than $150 when the cash arrives.

If you think there's a chance that bitcoin could drop back below $150, then you are better off sending the cash to me since you'll get more than 0.2 BTC.

If you're certain that bitcoin will be higher than $150, then you'd be better off sending the cash to TheButterZone since you'll get exactly 0.2 BTC regardless.

You can't make a claim on a family/friend payment sent.

This is a lie. You can make a fraud claim and reverse the charges.

I know next to nothing about BTC.

Nor much about PayPal apparently.

I'll tell you what.

Put $30 cash into an envelope along with a bitcoin address.  Put a $0.46 stamp on it and mail it to me.

When I receive it, I'll send $30 worth of BTC (as determined by the MtGox rate at that time) to that bitcoin address in the envelope.

Not arguing at all.

I know next to nothing about BTC.  Just getting started.

The easiest way to buy BTC (in my opinion) if you don't want to meet with a local is btcquick.com They allow you to pay with debit / credit card which is way easier than mt gox. You just have to get verified first which can take a day or two.  But in general, don't ask to buy BTC with the word paypal anywhere in the post.

How could i scam if I pay first and send as family/friend.  You can't make a claim on a family/friend payment sent.

Either way,  Just want to buy some BTC to play with.

Yes you can still file fraud and start a charge back. This has been hashed to death many times.

Because you can. Argue all you want, but paypal and BTC don't mix. Search and read up on the subject some.

If you're serious the best place to get $30 worth of bitcoins is LocalBitcoins. Just find somebody in your area and pay cash.

Newbies who ask to pay with PayPal are generally suspected of being scammers.
