If you can wire that big of an amount why not use btc-e ? their minimum is only 2k and they're trusted.

With the fees of sending and then receiving fees for the wire it probably wouldn't be worth it to the seller so they would charge a high rate I assume.
I would look into doing a cash deposit for $3000 into someone's account for a better rate. No fees. Lot of people offer coins for that much supply on Localbitcoins for 3-5% over market.
