Will you take $60 for the X8?

I don't want to spend a lot. Its for a friend who wants GPS app on a phone rather than a dedicated GPS.

Yes I would take this, However would need to see what shipping would cost me. I will pm you now for details and get a price on shipping Smiley

Do you want phone as is without sd card or with? and with custom Rom and everything on it or stock kernel and boot-loader locked and set back to default ?

I got a Sony Ericsson x8 that has been modded and runs on the latest jellybeans Rom if interested. And will also support other versions of custom Roms and Kernels as boot loader has been unlocked. Phone is unlocked too to support any network so simfree Smiley

Can support upto 16GB memory stick and already has a 8GB micro sd card in it

This is what it currently has on it.

 [PORT][UNOFFICIAL][v1.1- 29.01.2013][WIP][ONLY 74MB][JB] SlimBean 3.1 (Android 4.1.2)

This will come clean wiped as factory reset and all data removed from it other than system like new Smiley

Let me know if interested

That was the plan, to go with 3rd party app. Mainly it will be for off-road mapping. I wasn't planning to use this phone to make calls or send texts, so GPS has to work without getting any data.

Needs to be relatively quick with a decent processor in it, good size screen, and enough memory for all the GPS maps I'll need. 8-16 GB should do it. Or a micro-SD card slot.

Carrier doesn't matter. Especially if I can unlock it.

Word of note: My android phone can grab a GPS location when I don't have service, but it can't look up directions (or recalculate directions) using the Google Maps Navigation. It seems that at least some data is sent/received in order to use the GPS function.

If you're looking for a phone for GPS purposes, you won't be able to use the built in Google Navigation. You'll have to use a 3rd party navigation app that can download maps, and can calculate directions without network access.

But a quick suggestion, I bought an old Droid X off ebay for my dad. He keeps it in airplane mode, and uses it as an MP3 player. I just checked, and you can pick up those for under $50, and they have a decent screen.
you can probably get a dedicated gps app with built-in maps

I'm looking an affordable android phone that supports Android Jelly Bean, has Cortex processor and at least a 3.5" screen. A-GPS sensor and wif is a must.
