I don't have any exact tastes, because I'm still young and have only drank $10-$20 bottles of crap.

I myself prefer a nice Rye or Gin.. But if you're just starting out I suggest Vodka.
I would not ship through mail. Seems like you could get in a lot of trouble if person turns out to be less than 21. Some laws are very tough on what your responsible for.
But I highly don't suggest going straight vodka unless your talking mixers. If you are 22 it should not be to hard ask a friend to go to some college party. Or even a bar with a good bartender is better. Within a night at a bar you could figure out what you like. Look online at most common drinks online chances are you will find one.
Yeah, I'm not asking anyone to take un-needed risk, but I do remember ordering Wine last year and they let my 14-year old sister sign for it without seeing anybody else.
I have a small idea of what I like after doing some drinking, but as I said I'm always open to ideas.
It really depends on where you are at in the world. When I went to Italy I was amazed at how the culture allows for drinking at young ages, was before I was 21 I went there. One of my hotels had beer in the drink vending machine, that is 0 percent checking. But it is a culture thing and they don't have a problem with it they seem to be pretty responsible overall.
Now if you go to US it is 21 set in stone and pretty bad penalties. If you buy the alcohol for someone under the age and they do something stupid and the alchol is in their system still the buyer can get in trouble for what the underage person did. Just not a good place to be shipping alchol unless it appears some place have a shipping license and can verify ages and ship.
But it's going to be higher the local stores. Honestly look into mixers and see what are popular you can do many fun things. One of the "funnest" ones i can think of is you can get some alchol to taste like jolly ranchers if you mix it right (vodka is normally used). But if I'm going to drink a Crown and Coke is a good bet for me. If your of age honestly go to a bar and find out order a few. (Remember to have a safe ride back or cab, drinking driving not good thing).
