So you need an expensive unlocked CPU to build a basic gaming PC?

I sir would go with a AMD system and put the extra cash towards a better GPU....
You don't need an expensive unlocked CPU, but it doesn't hurt. You most definitely don't need an 8 core CPU which would basically limit you to Bulldozer/Piledriver. If you're looking to spend the money on a 6/8 core, you'd be better off with Sandy/Ivy.

I like to build a gamer pc for my brother.
I'm looking for a MB support d3 ram 16-32 max and at lease 1 16x
And a 6 to 8 core cpu
please pm
thanks,
jay

I don't have one, but I do have a comment. Don't worry about a 6 to 8 core CPU, which will likely move you to an AMD system. Get an Intel system, if you're looking used go for something like a Z68/2500k combination otherwise wait for a deal on an Ivy Bridge system. AMD just isn't competitive in the gaming space and pretty much no game benefits from 6 or 8 cores anyway.
