in order to use other cards in different systems you gotta modify the driver or the bios. here is a great video that save me alot of time trying to decipher the guide in text.

got the 580 alienware today and it booted to bios. still open to offers with anyone with something better.
i got a msi gt783r-658us and the gtx580 went to flames. i would like to put a 780m in it but might just opt out for a quadro k4000m. the integrated intel hd graphics dose not work by itself witch is a shame. if you inspect the nvida cards they are all the same layout. i was thinking of doing a rx290m but that would require me to modify the current heat sink slightly. (update) just ordered a brand new gtx580 for a ridiculous price of 105 cad! the only issue i may have is its a alien ware aka dell and might just work or have to flash bios or not work at all , let the gamble begin.
