There is no way to recycle these cards unless the supplier wants them back and is offering a type of rewards program for old cards returned.
I would say he want's these for carding, does anybody know if gift cards have re-writable data strips?

According to that vid, I think it is rewritable.

Also a possibility that he can use them for scamming claiming he has cards when they are empty
