Surely someone in your local area is selling bitcoins face to face, or one of the many USA peeps can help out
Well, here's the $6,001.00 answer to your $6,000 question... please send me my $1.00 in change via Darksend!
The "rest of the USA people" are usually buying only $40 to $250 worth of BTC at a time. They use services like Coinbase and pay high fees and premium for their BTC. And they are often forced to wait 2-5 business days on things like ACH deposits and bank account and/or ID verification. I'm trying to get this coin quick ahead of the price moves we're anticipating and get a new masternode up and runnings ASAP...
I've always bought my coins from a handful of reputable and trustworthy peers through Bitcointalk, Bitcoin-IRC, etc. It's always been more cost-effective, fast and easy for me. When I need a small amount ($50 to $500 worth) of Bitcoin I usually text or call TurtleHurricane or another reliable contact of mine and can have my coins within minutes. I don't even have an account with Coinbase, BitStamp or any similar websites because I've never needed it and always had better/cheaper ways of acquiring coin. I'm currently talking to some of my long-term trading partners on the phone, Skype and private messages... but I'm "shopping around" for the best deal and the best price.
Then there is the question of why I don't just buy DRK straight off an exchange... I did say that I am willing to do this, if necessary. However, I would prefer to buy the full amount of ~500.00 DRK from a private seller off the exchanges at a set, constant price. Obviously, if I try to suddenly buy up ~10+ BTC worth of DRK I'm going to drive the price up and thus make my own position more costly to purchase. The only way I'm going to get a decent entry price on DRK is if I split the 10 BTC up into smaller portions and buy incrementally over the course of a day or two, watching the technical levels and constantly adjusting limit orders (with the risk that the price suddenly shoots skyward and leaves me behind). I would prefer to avoid all of these complications, if possible. But I'm willing to do the work if I have to...
Also, there are not many people around here that are into Bitcoin, and even fewer that could possibly handle a $6,000 BTC sale... The chances of finding a local seller to do this for me is slim to none. And if I put an ad up on Craigslist saying I want to buy 10.00 BTC for $6k cash, I'm likely to get quite a few calls from armed robbers, LMAO...
Regards,
The DRK Lord
