Last year we (mostly my 8 year old daughter) looked up numerous flowering plants that would work in our area (the Western U.S.) and be beneficial to native bees and honeybees.  Then she contacted several seed companies and ordered what she could get in bulk. We ended up putting together two different seed packets that she sells at our Farmer's Market.  Each packet covers 50 square feet ($1.50/packet).

There is some overlap between the two mixes:

The first is called the "Honeybee Wild Flower Mix" and has the following flowers:
Baby Blue-Eyes (Nemophila menziesii)
Rocky Mountain Beeplant (Cleome serrulata)
California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica)
Blanketflower (Gaillardia aristata)
Utah Sweetvetch (Hedysarum boreale)
Yellow Lupine (Lupinus densiflorus aureus)
Blue Flax (Linum perenne)
California Bluebell (Phacelia campanularia)
Lacy Phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia)
Dwarf Godetia (Clarkia amoena)
Clarkia (Clarkia unguiculata)
Globe Gilia (Gilia capitata)
Showy Goldeneye (Viguiera multiflora)
Golden Aster (Heterotheca villosa)
Prairie Coneflower (Ratibida columnifera)
Bigelow's Aster (Machaeranthera bigelovii)
Fleabane Daisy (Erigeron speciosus)
Plains Coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria)
Rocky Mountain Penstemon (Penstemon strictus)

The second mix we call "Xeriscape Wildflower Mix".  (This one is for areas that we don't water)
It contains the following:
Arroyo Lupine
California Poppy
Blanketflower
Blue Flax
Greenthread
California Bluebell
Desert Marigold
Bird's Eyes
Pale Evening Primrose
Palmer Penstemon
Rocky Mountain Penstemon
Tidy Tips
Blazing Star
Prairie Coneflower
Deerhorn Clarkia
Gooseberryleaf Globemallow
Oregon Sunshine

Not sure where in Canada you are to know how well suited these blends would be for you.  You can look them up on the internet to see if they would work in your area.

We have the packets and seeds already, she just needs to weigh them out.

Bump, now I'm more interested in pretty-looking things instead of vegetation and what not. Smiley

Hi

I would go with something like a wildflower mix for colour and coverage. Little to no maintenance and a mix of annual + perrenial. You can get cheaply if buying bulk. Not sure about paying with Bitcoin though?

If you need seeds for the worlds favourite plant then just let me know  Smiley

I recently just moved to a house... and it has a huge, plain backyard.  I'm looking to do some gardening work...  Do you guys have any cool vegetation or flowers that can survive in Canada? Tongue

Looking for a variety, PM me.
