I guess you could ask for insured shipping but it will cost you a bit more. I bought a watch from him a while ago and the packaging was very good. It comes in the original box, inside another box.

so cool man.you can check the price when you jogging.

Whats more cool is that you can receive and send BTC payment from the watch without the need of phone or PC.

And i feel more safe having a wallet with small change on a watch then phone.

Through no fault of freethebitcoin's I have finally received my watch. Freethebitcoin was very helpful and getting me anything I needed to track my package and had great contact through everything.

The watch is very nice too, excited to play around with it.

Im glad you finally got it the Z1.
Test it for one or two days before you upgrade to 4.4 so you can feel the difference as they also updated the UI from firmware version 3.2.

Cant wait for the Bitcoin apps or widgets to make Z1 complete Smiley

Hi,

sorry for the late reply. My watch also arrived. I already flashed a new rooted rom and put another launcher on it. So far its a really good buy for that price! I also have the Galaxy Gear and would buy Z1 again, Galaxy Gear i am not sure... its too expensive and i already had a sudden death on it.. (still have to send it in) So actually the Z1 is my all day watch and i really don't miss the gear. I personally don't need a camera in the watch. But i need WLan much more! So donwloading apps with the Z1 is much more easier than with the gear where i have to bluetooth tether the Internet from my phone.

I am still on german translation ( was busy that days) so i will keep you updated about that.

I also told some friends they should buy that watch also. So i am sure i will buy some more after your new years holdays
So happy chinese new year and thanks for the great watch!

Thanks for the update, Z1 is really a great device for the money and much more open and easy to hack and tweak.

I agree a camera is quite useless on a watch and will only increase the cost.
The Z1 can remote control the camera on your phone, i just wish it had a delay so you could take photo of your self.

Have fun with your Z1 and let me know when your friends are ready.

ok, a quick tip for anyone else that wants to copy data to the watch.... do NOT use a USB hub, plug the phone directly into your mobo usb ports. I've been trying to copy the latest update to the watch for a while but it kept stalling for no reason. Tried adb push, same issue! Then, finally tried plugging directly into the computer and bingo, worked first time!

May just be the hubs I have, but they are d-link ones so are fairly decent.

Most usb hubs to not provide enough power so its always safe to connect directly to computer, same goes for charging the watch.

It is a powered hub with 1A ports, but yes, good tip for general hubs.

Anyway, I have a bug report for you to pass on. Latest v3 firmware:

The Weather App, Selecting United Kingdom, then Brighton & Hove (my nearest city) as the location will cause the weather app to go into a crash loop. Only a reset to factory defaults will cure it. I assume it is because of the '&' in the description. If they can change the city name to just Brighton then I'm sure it'll be fine.

For now I have London selected as my nearest city and it's working ok.

Powered hub should be fine, maybe another bug on Z1.

I have posted the bug in the forum and will forward to SmartQ, it can take some time for next update as China is going for the longest public holiday of the year, Chinese new year.

Let me know if you find other bugs or interesting findings.

I'm interested in one but only with escrow. I'm a respected escrow here so I can pay upon arrival or we can choose a neutral 3rd party escrow.

I prefer payment in advance, i dont mind escrow if you can cover the fees.
Just curious, if you would pay on arrival, would you pay the BTC amount at the day of shipping or receiving?

Which do you prefer?

I prefer payment before shipment and the BTC amount at the day the order is placed.

I already registered and posted in that thread. The Dutch guy will change the grammar Smiley. The watch came with a few instructions, it already said it was only resistant to water for a short time so no showering, bathing etc.

Here is a picture of my watch.

The new firmware looks really good!

Haha I have already been lurking on the forum. I'll make an account soon Smiley.

I have no idea how to add the Dutch translation, couldn't find the right file in the update.zip file. I reviewed the Dutch file you linked me to and it looks pretty good. Could you tell him it would look better if he sticks with using 'u' for 'you' instead of mixing 'u' and 'je' (he will understand :p).

I will post a picture + timestamp of the watch tomorrow. I have been playing with it for a while and I must say that I am very pleased with it!

If you DO register over at TR, i think you better explain the Dutch grammar to a Dutch Smiley

Ahhh....btw, do not take a shower wearing the watch, even though they advertise it to be water poof, one member reported ruining his Z1 taking a shower.

I will try to contact SmartQ about the language files and how to edit them.

The weight is quite heavy for what it is. But, I like heavy watches. This is interesting and I'll be keeping a eye out for it.
Buy BTC      2013-12-27 01:08:33    ฿2.30000000    ¥-10,004.98    ¥4,349.99
Not sure what you are comparing to but a quick search gave me this:

Sony 2 = 122.5 grams
Samsung = 168 grams
Z Watch = 42.5 grams

So the weight of Z Watch is just 1/3rd of Sony and 1/4th of Samsung, which is super light for what it is   Smiley

I also translated nearly everything. Would be good to get a preview of the rom with the new translation to be able to correct wrong translations. Sometimes it not really clear if it makes sence how i translated it.

Once i submit the new translations to SmartQ they will add the new languages with next firmware update, so i cant test this for you.
However is should be possible to download the full firmware, extract it, and edit the current language files and place, example English with other language and then flash the edited firmware in order to test.

I have not done it my self, so i dont know the exact steps, but should be fairly easy for someone who is good at Android hacking.

Would you be interested in a Dutch translation of the xml file? I am planning on translating it for myself but I can send it to you as well if you like.

Do you happen to know what file I need to translate. I can't find it in any of the .xml files from the update.zip file.

I dont know which file on the Android firmware need to be edited, but i received a xls file from smartqme with all the English language entries.
If you want i can post it here, once translated i will submit it to smartq and they will add Dutch language on next firmware release.

Some crazy retail price variation with this little guy
http://buy.smartqme.com/smartq-z-watch.html
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221320838380
http://www.amazon.com/Smartq-Water-proof-Bluetooth-Android-Smartphone/dp/B00GZFY74E/

Seems like you could resell for way more on eBay or Amazon.

In the first link you can see the Z-Lite version for 79.99, im selling the Z1 version which is priced at 99.99 over at smartqme.
The Z-Lite has less RAM, less flash memory, stripped of wifi and currently on pre-order.

AFAIK, ebay and amazon is not taking Bitcoin as payment and that is the whole point of the deal here.

Also im taking a loss at about 25USD for each watch and hope to recover the loss and maybe some profit in the future.

I want to help and promote a great smart watch that is not mentioned on bigger blogs (engedget is heavily invested in pebble) and at the same time make Bitcoin payment more useful, then just trading altcoins and wasting on mining hardware.

UPDATE
The reason the prices are much higher from the sellers you linked to is cos they are still using the old system that hopefully will be history in few years time. By buying over ebay and amazon you as buyer are feeding the corporations by paying their high fees.

The whole point selling a useful product for BTC is to avoid using eBay, Amazon and Paypal.

I have added you on list.

But with that being said the price is good... 66USD is a really good price. Your looking at 120$ retail.

Yes, im taking the loss now believing i can recover it in the long term, while supporting the needed economy of Bitcoin. Trading alt-coin and buying mining hardware only, for BTC will not make Bitcoin mainstream.

Im constantly trying to convince my Chinese friends to accept BTC for goods but im talking to deaf ears.

And please dont blame me if the value of BTC goes double 2 weeks later when you receive the item, and i promise i will not moan if  value drops 50%  Smiley

Sent you a PM

See PM reply.

Can the watch operate autonomously under android or it needs ad-hoc with a phone?

You dont have to pair the watch with phone, you will still be able to use most functions like watch, alarm, recorder, pedometer, timer, mp3 player and more.
You wont be able to receive messages, call and app notifications from phone is not paired via bluetooh.

You can however use other internet related functions and apps, connecting via wifi.

Would you settle for half now and half after delivery (since you haven't built a trust level yet)? If not I will arrange escrow.

You can check my reputation on the tabletrepublic forum, i have held several group deals.
It would not be worth selling 2 years of my time as the founder for 66USD.

But as this is my first deal on this forum and i accept using escrow if you can cover the fee.

How long does delivery take to UK?
Out of interest, will there be any way in which it would be possible to pair this with an iPhone?

Delivery takes about 1-2 weeks.
The current firmware does not support connection with iphone but SmartQ is planing to release an ios app next week, so it should be possible before you receive the watch.

Some news on coming 4.4 firmware and ios support:

I have now uploaded the SDK files, its all in Chinese but should be easy to decrypt.

Do they come in different colours? Also where are you shipping from? I will contact someone to escrow and I will let you know.

Quote
There are 3 colours available, black, red and purple. But honestly the black looks best.

The watch will be shipped from Hong Kong where the distributor keeps their stock.
SmartQ is a Chinese brand from Hefei.

As the SmartQ Z Watch is running Android and a SDK software is available, it should be possible to make a Bitcoin widget or an Bitcoin app for the Z Watch.

I wonder if there is any interest in developing a simple BTC ticker for the Z1, im willing to donate one smart watch to anyone who can make this happen.
If you forward me the SDK I can give it a shot.

I do not have the SDK files, what SmartQ did was set up a dev website where you can apply for the SDK.
Unfortunately the website is all in Chinese, although some have managed to register using google translate:
http://dev.smartdevices.com.cn/open/index.php?r=site/Register

I believe they will release English version of the website and SDK tools soon.

I am interested in a watch. Are you willing to use escrow/sending first to build some trust?

Sure, no problem using escrow if you know any we can trust Smiley

How many do you have and in what colour?

The is no limit on how many i can get, i know the SmartQ distributor and their office is 10 min from my place.
The more units we can get together the better discount i can get.

China is going for a long new year holiday all shipments will be suspended from Jan 30 and resume on Feb 10.
If you want to make sure to have your order shipped before the holiday, contact me before Jan 29.

I have access to purchase one of the very best Android smart watch the SmartQ Z Watch at discounted price.
Im organizing a second group deal over at tabletrepublic forum and decided to accept Bitcoin as payment with 34% discount.

SmartQ Z Watch price:
  • Online USD price 99USD
  • BTC price in USD: 66USD 79USD

PRICE UPDATE
Early birds who already ordered the Z1 payed 66USD in BTC. As the BTC value is dropping and China is going for a long new year holiday, i decided to adjust the price to minimize my own loss and still offer a great 20% discount at 79USD.

USD price in BTC includes:
  • Brand new SmartQ Z Watch (black or red)
  • Registered international air shipping

I noticed that most members here are selling / buying mining hardware or digital goods, but i hope im adding my tiny contribution by accepting Bitcoin for something else then exchanging alt cooins or buying non profitable mining hardware.

If you like to order one or more Z1 units, PM me your shipping address and i will send payment address and BTC amount (i use BTC China to calculate the price).
