If you want to see what the market value is you should have an auction. I would think the coin auctions right around Zepher's offer of 0.62. Premiums have dropped dramatically in btc terms.

As does Zepher with the spot on offer...

Also if any trusted member(with a strong trade history) has PayPal funds, let me know.  I'd be interested in Paypal  & Bitcoin 50/50.

I would do 50/50 between paypal and bitcoin @ the equivalent of 0.625 btc total.  Can also pay with Google Wallet.

I like to think I am well trusted.

I will vouch for Les Cow

as it has been mentioned, BTC premiums have definitely come down across the board for casascius coins with the increase in $ price.

ignoring all the alt coins... you paid a 0.38BTC premium in 08/2016 when the $/BTC was about 500 (0.38x500= $190 premium).  as multiple people have mentioned above this coin probably sells for 0.6-0.65 BTC in an auction format, so lets say a 0.125BTC premium.  With $/BTC at $7300 (0.125x7300= $912.50 premium)

lets take it to an extreme of $1mm/BTC... do you really expect someone to pay you a 0.38BTC premium or nearly $380,000 premium for this coin?

as the price continues to rise, the BTC premium should be expected to decline

that being said, I'd offer you 0.60 BTC for this coin!

pretty lame to ignore altcoin when you calculate back to the other altcoin called $. When you take $ in your calculation you should also add BCH , Bitcoin Gold and all other shit that comes with it which is worth some extra $ to the value/price.

Buy a BTC coin with BTC, sell a BTC coin with BTC no matter what the $ price is for BTC is. If you are CORE stay CORE and that is BTC not $

Yea I understand what your saying.  That is why I lowered the asking price.  I do think it's a decent idea I'm just not in a rush to sell and I'd belive my asking price is reasonable.

I've been offered .7 BTC via pm but thanks for the offer.

Also if any trusted member(with a strong trade history) has PayPal funds, let me know.  I'd be interested in Paypal  & Bitcoin 50/50.

I undetstand this is a hot topic but please try and stick to posting reasonable offers.

Seems like these coins commonly are selling for way more than 0.6 BTC.  I read people say the price fluctuates based on demand..  I don't recall them seeing that low normally over the years.

Maybe it should drop slightly but not so dramatically as some have suggested.  When the demand is at it highest a coin like thi's should not be depreciating IMO.

I also think your asking price of ~0.88 BTC is too much. I have purchased 2 in the last week for 0.6 and 0.62 BTC respectively. Granted they are not in a condition worth grading, but they are still in decent shape. These other alts on the coin have not been making much of a difference to the selling price of these brass coins.

You might get 0.7 BTC for this coin if you find the right buyer (or wait until after the fork?), but I sincerely doubt you will get anywhere close to your asking price. Sorry, not trying to be a downer. Just being realistic.

I'd offer 0.62 BTC for it.

Edit: Haha, just realised this is the coin I sold you Cheesy

Yeah I got these from u.  I honestly don't believe this coin should be priced so low.  I couldn't see it going for less than .75 BTC but sense I don't buy and sell often.. I'll take the advice from those that do and lower my price.

I'm going to lower may asking price .1 BTC to .785 BTC.

If you want to see what the market value is have an auction. I would think the coin would sell right around Zepher's offer of 0.62. Premiums have dropped dramatically in btc terms.

Yeah I'm open to an auction but I would not be letting the coin go for .62 BTC.  It just doesn't make sense.  This coin gives anyone wanting to hold BTC in a secure and private manner the means to do so.

Why would I take a more than 50% hit on the premium that I paid?  Because the price has gone up?  I'm open minded that is why I lowered the price significantly bUT I'm not crazy haha.

I do appreciate your opinion!

Not everyone here is purely BTC, we all work jobs that pay in fiat.

I'd love to still be selling silver kialaras at 0.9 like last year, but I'll have to settle that the BTC to fiat rates have gone way up.

Reference I sold one for 0.9 last year at $1000 per BTC.
The last silver that was auctioned here fetched 0.35BTC and BTC was roughly $5,000. Now I am expecting my auction to end somewhere around 0.25 due to the rise in price.

If you really want to see what the market will pay, do a no reserve auction.

I don't condone the alts, but technically if I did peel this coin I could get near that value out of it minus trading and tx fees. Like it or not but it does give it more value and calling it garbage is ignoring reality.

Your price is your price. Dont let others sway you. All this nonsense with premiums going down because price is going up is bs.

No nonsense here..... unfortunately we still live in and peg the bitcoin price to $$ or other fiat value.....
Being that.... The premiums will continue to fall....Unless these start to make their way to traditional auction houses and real numismatic collectors take notice and are willing to pay
(Which would be an interesting turn of events if that happens sooner than later)
You would be hard pressed to find someone paying much any premium as we start to climb over $10K..... and I can't even imagine what we will experience once it's over $100K

Fair. But then why are silvers and gilts fetching 2x?

Silvers and Gilts have lower mintage numbers and are nicer coins.

In 2013-2014 Silvers and Gilts were 3-4 btc so the premium in btc terms has dropped on them as well.

At a certain price level it could become difficult to get face value as many investors would be hesitant to tie their money up and lose the liquidity.
It might not be underpriced if you're adding BTC + BCH + B2X. The price for B2X futures alone right now is $2070. Check coinmarketcap.com and search for SegWit2X. By my math that is 0.5 + 0.04555 + 0.143 = 0.68855 BTC not including any premium for the coin itself.

interesting.  I guess it all depends on how B2X works out.   Do these forks normally act similarly to how dividends affect stocks?

ie: lets say BTC right now is $7000 and the B2X Futures are $2000.  When it forks shouldnt BTC drop to $5000 if actual B2X is $2000?

I agree with this. I also don't believe in hedging in this space for a bitcoin failure. I think Core knows what they are doing, they are constantly being distracted by these stupid hard forks. If Bitcoin fails I'm simply exiting crypto. Why would I trust anything else to end any differently.

But that's all highly theoretical because as we all know bitcoin cannot fail  Grin

You have a good point MJ. Also because the $ value of 1 coin is sky high now, sending it to buyer becomes more a risk and expensive. The premium value in BTC will drop as the $ price of BTC goes up to certain level it might be better for the owner to peel it, claim the BTC and all extras coins than sell it with low premium and risk it gets lost in the mail....

Personally I have some casascius 0.5 coins, why sell a coin for 0.6 BTC with all the fuzz of packing it, sending it, hoping it arrives, happy buyer while I can claim the BTC with all extra coins (bitcoincash and shit) and also get (near) 0.6 BTC,  I can even sell the redeemed coin for some mBTC.

In my opinion a good 0.5 casascius is worth 0.75+ BTC. The collector will buy BTC with fiat, buy this kind of coins and hope for higher BTC value in the future for profit. as soon as ebay, amazon, catawiki and auctionwebsites accept BTC as payment, value of these coins will sky rocket !

Fair. But then why are silvers and gilts fetching 2x?

Because they are precious metals and rarer! Also they have more eye appeal too!

The premium in BTC terms becomes lower the higher the BTC price goes, but in terms of FIAT it probably stays the same

Example, and lets leave all the other shitcoins out of this for less confusion

if BTC is trading $7000 and a 0.5 cas sells for 0.6BTC..the premium in terms of FIAT would be $700
If BTC is trading $20,000 and a 0.5 cas sells for .535BTC the premium in terms of FIAT would be $700
Same Fiat premium but less in btc.

BCH is currently worth about 0.09 BTC.  so face value puts this coin at about 0.545BTC, I'd say a 0.05BTC premium over that would be fair so you are looking at ~0.60 BTC

What I'd say is that the btc price of the coin should be even lower because of the upcoming fork. You could get more b2x by just holding the btc, compared to holding the coin.  (and obviously the premiums dropped because of the rise in btc price) I'd offer 0.55btc.

With the rise in BTC price, the premium above BTC (along with the shit coins in it) should be lower..I bought one 2 months ago in person for 0.6btc

Don't you think your asking price is way overpriced (at the current BTC rate)? Looks like you are using a price from 08/2016 for reference.

I thought it was underpriced with the BCash on it alone, no?  I'm open to offers but I was honestly under the impression this was a deal with the up coming fork and all.

Im trying to sell this so please explain why the price should be lower(anyone).  I don't sell these often just going by my gut.
