That's a nice feature to be disabled, but I personally use Dropbox especially for backing my files and keep them synced with other devices, so it doesn't matter too much. I think Dropbox wants to get more customers to use Share folders instead.

Maybe, maybe not. Pumped up dropboxes have been offered by a few users for a while, such as moredropbox and dropboxexpander. The only problem I have with such a service is that they use fake referrals to get the space from Dropbox, but it doesn't mean that they aren't delivering what they are selling. Use escrow if you are worried and don't care about how they were created. lol my bad.. yesterday haha
