Have you ever tried to unlock it?
Ya I tried. It wouldn't boot.
Reset the BIOS, and then it worked again on 3 cores. This was on a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5.

I got an AMD Athlon II X3 445 CPU that' I'm selling. I was using this for several months, and recently upgraded to an 8-core Bulldozer.

I ran it undervolted for the first several months, and then undervolted and overclocked to 3.6GHz the last month or so. This is with a Hyper 212+ cooler, so temps were always cool.
