They aren't wrong.  If you are getting $9000k through escrow the small shipping fee upfront can't be too harsh.  Believe it or not shipping up front micro scams are abundant not just here but a lot of places.  Like said before not saying this is the case but without any trading history you might find someone unwilling to front pay you shipping.

Well the problem is from Canada to US it's a $500+ CAD duty fee and shipping fee for it to clear customs, I don't have that much to pay out of pocket and wait for escrow to finish. Should I add a shipping and duty fee on top of it? Or how does that work? Never used escrow before always been through either eBay or Facebook marketplace for sales.

The cleanest way to do this is to state your all in price to include any fees, shipping etc.  You and the buyer come to an agreement on that price.  Get a verified escrow from this site.  Phillipma has done zillions of hardware escrow tx, minerjones, etc.  Both buyer and seller agree to terms with the escrow.  Buyer sends escrow total amount.  Escrow confirms with seller they have the funds in hand.  Seller ships agreed upon goods.  Once buyer receives and confirms its what they agreed to they tell escrow to release funds to seller.  It's highly successful here and pretty much the only safe way to transact unless you personally know someone or they have had countless amount of transactions here that can be vouched for.  Good luck with your sale.
Okay, and say that you ship it and have proof that you ship it in good condition and the buyer tries to pull a fast one on the seller, and claims that it is in a horrible condition? How does that dispute work?

You will need to ask the escrow agent for their exact process.  I am not an escrow.  I can tell you millions of dollars of gear have been safely traded here without issue.  You can ask the individual escrow how many of their deals went bad and the result.  But there is no other way for you here.  No one is going to send you $10k worth of bitcoin first and cross their fingers that you will ship.  This site would be riddled with scammers if that's the way it was done.  I was were at first but have traded here for years using escrow and never had one go south.
So what you are saying, is if I were to go through escrow, I would have to pay for the shipping, and pay for duty before I would get the funds from escrow? no disrespect through escrow, but why wouldn't PayPal be a better alternative? ( which I have posted I would also accept ) because if I don't ship then PayPal takes the money back and refunds the buyer.

Because it's a bitcoin forum Smiley

(willing to escrow providing I can get some of it released for shipping and duty fees)
That's the tricky part! We had some users in the past that scammed others for that reason [I'm not implying that you're one of them, but one never knows...].

  • In order to increase the chances of selling that rig, you should "follow this thread" and include a picture that shows the rig in question, together with your forum name and the date on a piece of paper.
