I've heard you can (at least) remove the 2 big fans?Yes if you do this, There are two more blowing up (IIRC) from the ASIC heatsink, You need to turn this upside down (blowing down on heatsink) and leave the case off, This makes for better cooling (depending on ambient temp) and quieter running.
If you really want rid of any hassle I can offer a couple of coins, I am in midlands.
