Its probably one from the github student pack. You can get them for free if you have a .edu email address and are willing to wait months for it. Problem is that you can only use it with a brand new DO account and need to verify with a paypal account.
Yep, basically saving you from waiting for the codes and you can do it with a card of yours I think, PayPal is not forced.

Well, you gotta use the code but... That is not actually verifying, and I am not sure if a person can actually buy a DigitalOcean Gift Coupon-ish thing?
