there are no "keygens" for windows. there are, however, activators, "pre activated" versions, and KMS servers. the first two are risky because of the potential of introducing malware, and the last is a hassle because you need to find a reliable KMS server. $4 is about 30min worth of minimum wage in developed countries, so I think it's a pretty fair price for a hassle-free version of windows if you're not very tech-savvy.

To put it in short terms - yes you will get caught and yes there is a possibility of going to jail.

To do it legally - you need to get a certificate from Microsoft and you need to sell the actual copy of Windows.
The ones in the MSDN(I believe) are OEM keys / os's, don't quote me on that one though.
