Impressive, looks like great craftsmanship.
(I am not a potential buyer, since I would have no idea what to use such a thing for).

Thanks, the ball bearings themselves are useful and the premium over the cost of the bearings is extremely low.  If I was to disassemble it, the prusik cord would be re-purposed as the cord I used costs around $1/foot and there is approximately 25-40 feet in this Monkey Fist setup.  I forget exactly how much as I started from a 50ft section and cut the extra off but I remember there wasn't a lot left.  Working with a 50ft rope was interesting.   Cheesy

Impressive knot, no need for them myself but definite skill went into tying them...

Thanks!

Ouch, that would hurt. I assume these are for self defense?

Monkey fist knots such as this size could be used for heaving large diameter line and anchoring of small boats in calm waters/rocky bedding.  I created a larger one a while ago which wasn't as clean looking nor tightened thoroughly but it did the job in anchoring an 18ft jon boat in some windy situations lake fishing.  The weight of the monkey fist on that one was 7 or 8 lbs I believe.  Wink

Not primarily in my eyes for the self defense method, but you can think of it as a training tool similar to the way nunchaku is a training tool for sword/large knife control.  I made a pair of nunchaku in the past and they leave quite a bruise/can knock you unconscious.  Luckily I've only been bruised and never hit myself in the face or got knocked out.  The same goes for the large monkey fist, it has the capability to knock out and hurt others/yourself quite easily if you start swinging it around like a madman but any rope with a weight attached has the same effect.  The difference for training is where the nunchaku can be used for swords and the monkey fist with rope attached as such can be used for rope/chain ball weapons.  Similar to the Kill Bill scene where the chick is swinging a chain ball weapon.

If you purchase this item, please be careful with it.  Smiley

Is double monkey a kind of knot? I clicked on this post thinking you were selling an actual monkey (lol).

A monkey fist is a knot, maybe "monkey's fist" but I just call it monkey fist.  Wink

They take a long time to tie with this type of rope, size of this bearing, and the tightening rounds it goes through.  Usually a keychain sized one can be completed by hand with no jigs in less than 10-15 minutes by an experienced knot tyer.  The monkey fists themselves feel almost like rocks when fully tightened due to the steel core.  This one was tied without jigs.   Smiley

I created this one of a kind double monkey fist over the course of around 3 hours.  It was made with two 2 1/4" stainless steel industrial grade ball bearings and is tied with 9mm prusik cord at a tensile strength of 4,850lbs or 2,201kgs.  This thing is a monster and the fists weigh 2lbs each!  It took a lot of work and finger strain to get the ropes tight but it is an awesome monkey fist set with one being tied at 4 turns and the other at 5 turns.  It it is 7 1/2 ft in length when doubled up for throwing and can be used for other training activities.  The rope is only tied with a single knot in the middle to keep the ropes together and the customer can untie this to have a full 7 1/2 ft extension.

I have experience tying boating/survival knots and this is two large bearings tied together with properly tightened monkey fists.  I am not sure if many things like this exist around the world as this is custom and I only have a few of these bearings left; they are hard to find cheap.  For reference, two 1-7/18" stainless steel bearings - $72 + shipping - www.ebay.com/itm/380512746871.

No scale, measuring tape, or extra ball bearing is included.

Price shipped with tracking in the continental US:
$80 /

I have bought/sold many items online in the past and do not usually have a problem but I'm willing to use a mutually agreed upon reputable escrow if needed.  Buyer will pay escrow fees if escrow is chosen.  Shipping for this item will only be to the continental US as international shipping would be quite expensive as it's really heavy.
