Kind of interested.
But the graphical card is a bit peculiar to me.
Those are used for cad and 3d modelling right?
Workstation systems have these type of gpus in them.
So it wouldn't be suggested to be used for anything else?
If I wanted to use it to play world of warcraft's newest update I wouldn't be able to get it past low settings I would imagine.
I only ask this type of question because as said you have another one which you are using currently.
So what do you use this for? Just for work purposes and not for anything else?
I play dota2, csgo, civ, etc, without any problems. I don't play any MMOs these days but I'm sure it'll handle running WoW. I did have to decrease my res from 1920x1080 and lower settings to play csgo without momentary stutters with smoke, etc (csgo has been having perf issues for quite some time though). You can check the comparison for the card online. It's not exactly the most powerful card ever, but it works well. I bought 2 of these in my order and I ended up with 4 units in total. I use the unit for work (coding) and gaming -- I have the laptop plugged in to a monitor, kb/mouse on my desk.. The unit I gave to an employee is used for work and gaming (same games I play). The third unit was sold to a business associate and is just used for work.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Quadro+M1000MIf you've never used a thinkpad before... They're beasts and put together very well. This is my third thinkpad in 6 years and I'm kind of annoyed by the video card (would have preferred a geforce series mobile). But really, if you need a laptop there's no other choice but a thinkpad. Any other laptop I've had ends up starting to fall apart before a year (mouse and KB gets quirky, etc). Never had any problems with any of the thinkpads I've owned. My 2 previous thinkpads are 100% functional. Wife uses one. Other is too slow for practical use these days. They even survive my kid
(she likes to stand on top of laptops)
Edit:
I'll download WoW and see what kind of FPS i get. Need to get rid of this laptop before it becomes out of date. I already forgot about it once.
40FPS on maximum graphics settings at 1920x1080 under 'playable' (no hq textures installed yet). I'll wait for the game to finish and update again. The def recommended setting from WoW was '5'.
Fully installed and running around a noob zone. It seems there's a cap in place of 60fps for windowed full screen?
Windowed full screen --
1920x1080 @ '10' - 40fps
1920x1080 @ '8' w/ max distance - 55fps
1920x1080 @ '6' w/ max distance - 60fps
1920x1080 @ '4' w/ max distance - 60fps
Full screen --
1920x1080 @ '10' - 30 fps
1360x768 @ '10' - 68 fps
1360x768 @ '8' w/ max distance - 90fps
I'm not sure if the game would even be playable @ 1920x1080 because all the buttons and icons are too small. I can barely see any of them. If there's any particular setting configuration you'd wish me to test let me know. I'll leave the game installed for a day or 2 before deleting it.
