so after all this craziness, the company shipped the mattress by accident. I immediately called them after fedex dropped the 109lb package at my door.

The offered to come pick it up or to sell it to me at a very good price. So I purchased it fair and square from Nature's Sleep.

As the escrow agent and a trusted member of Bitcointalk, you would the most qualified to head the scammer investigation. Compile the evidence in a convincing manner (for both sides, as you're able) and submit it to theymos. It'll take about 10 minutes for you to do, but you'll get a much better appreciation for the process the mods have to go through every time we want to mark someone as a scammer.

If anyone was interested, I could purchase from Nature's Sleep and resell to one of you fine gents. You'd have to cover shipping costs though, since I don't think asking them to ship to another address is wise in this situation.

Just a thought, but I'd do it just because I'm nice, as long as my expenses are covered.

I know this may be annoying but I wouldn't be very good escrow agent if I simply returned funds based on the statements of a single party.  It doesn't mean I don't trust you but I need to be impartial.  I hope you understand.


To avoid an automatic release back to you in 72 hours I would want to see a Fedex tracking # showing shipment (not just pending) along with confirmation from the company on shipment.  If that isn't provided then funds will be released back automatically in 72 hours. Even if it does ship, funds will not go to the seller they will just stay in escrow until resolved.

I have already gotten confirmation from Nature's Sleep that the order is fraudulent and will not ship. If I can get them to send me an email stating this, will that suffice? I dont think anything the seller says now will be the truth, hes just going to try and scam his way in to receiving the funds. (what if he says it shipped and i received it, etc)

I trust you and this does smell like a scam but it becomes my rep and the escrow agent needs to be impartial.   If I return the escrow, the item ships anyways, and the order was valid well that is a pretty good "reverse scam" and my rep as an escrow agent suffers.

Your funds are safe and while this may be unpopular I hope you understand I am going to wait 72 hours, or until I get verified proof that the order is canceled, or the seller agrees to a release (whichever comes first) before releasing the funds.

Congrats on catching a potentially very expensive scam (if it is a scam my guess is the company would be looking for $2700 in damages).

That I will agree with.  Escrow is good because without it the carder could have gotten funds anyways but it does require a smart buyer.

I just got off the phone with the company again. They verified this order IS FRAUDULENT. He ordered 2 kings and 2 queens on the same gift code. He has placed over 100 gift card orders using the same name. So either their website has been compromised or he has been carding up a storm.

Well the bad news is escrow doesn't provide any protection from carders.
If lolwut received the item and asked me to clear the escrow then I would have.

It would be 30-180 days later before either the company requests a demand notice for $2700 or the Police show up at his doorstep.

If anything this shows the limitation of escrow and the long reach of reversible transactions.

lets hope he did a good job covering his tracks, because I'm very good at finding things.

So I called Nature's Sleep at 877-557-5337. They have been having lots of issues with people using stolen credit cards to buy gift codes, then using the gift codes to place orders for people. They also said he ordered multiple mattresses with the same card. So if anyone else here orderes from him please speak up!!

Thats enough red flags for me, but theres more.

Nature's Sleep gave me his IP and email. His ip is a mobile device and it has only been used once on their entire website (my order). I am waiting to speak with someone in their IT department, as well as having them find out where the code he used came from. If this is just a coincidence, i apolgize in advance, but I'm quite doubtful.

It is a little warmer but not as bad as I thought based on some complaints.  The mattress I ended up picking has some kind of "airflow technology or something" because I was kinda worried about that.  So maybe that helps (or maybe it is just marketing). In summer I just bumped the AC temp down a degree or two at night and I don't notice.

is this all memory foam or like the 5" visco and the rest is regular foam? Does this mattress have that chemical smell that everyone complains about?

I can't vouch for longtimenosee but I love me some good memory foam.  Never knew what a real nice rest was until we bought a Tempurpedic.  I couldn't imagine sleeping on anything else.  I hate traveling on business because that is when I experience how much most mattresses suck.
