Question: Is there any legit download link I can use to get the windows thing though or do I need to get the iso through dodgy means and then activate using your key?

Microsoft has it's own tool to download the OS iso, as for the office suite, you may have to download the installer from the digital river server (microsoft) here for example: https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/8-office-2016-direct-download-links
You just have to find them, it's a little bit of googling, but you are downloading from microsoft themselves.
