Thanks for the information. The thing on signing a message for a used BTC address is that the account has never posted a BTC address. It has never participated on a signature program, giveaway or something similar. There is only a BTC address in the signature but there is no last edit date to validate that it has not been changed recently.

Therefore I suggest something else to prove that I am the owner of the account. The account was used to post about a crypto coin website for some months. The website also states that the account that is for sale is the website owner (under contact information) After the auction has ended I'll add a temporarily short hint on the website (e.g. something like "the account has been sold to ). Hope this helps to increase trust Wink

Intro:

Welcome to the world of bitcoin.

I have been a Newbie like you, looking for scrap, asking questions, working faucets. Faucets are a waste of time. Yes, it was a bit easier in the past. I could join a signature campaign with only 19 posts. Spammers have ruined this pretty much for Newbies though and if they continue I am afraid they will ruin it for all of us. This is not the topic though, sorry for the distraction. You dont believe me that I joined a campaign as Newbie? Well I can proof it to you and I can show you how. By signing a message.

The post quoted below was written by me. It was not edited and it contains a bitcoin address. If you click on its link you will see that it has no dotted line below the time and date. See here for an edited post. I changed it today. Here is a picture.

Can you prove the ownership of the account with a bitcoin signed message?

Interested on this too
why aren't you responding to the request while you are online?
It seems that:
1- stolen account
or
2- no account and trying to scam

Wanna prove other? Sign a message

What makes me laugh though, those who ask these questions rarely buy so it does make me wonder why do they ask. Suppose it is because they care about the community not nothing to do with wearing a signature. The question will surly come from someone who wants to buy.
Well the people who do buy rarely ask, and I think they don't ask because of ignorance. There have been a number of cases of people buying an account that later had someone come back claiming it was hacked recently so the question is far from unimportant......since the recent rise in these claims there has been only a very slight increase in the number of people asking for signed messages when they buy accounts so IMO the inquiry is necessary and when they respond to the negative the warning that the account may be hacked is appropriate

That is not true the people who buy rarely ask lol The cases you took are few and far between we are talking a couple from 50+ i am not saying the question is unimportant but it will be asked by someone who actually wants to buy the account. Anyway leave this auction to just that.

First I ask if he can sign a message and then I will decide if take participation to the auction or not. It is my personal choice, isn't it? Now can I ask you if you are interested to buy this account?
