present in my country also giving like that offers. but i think it does not work. because now a days people updated very well. they have to knowing everything. so most of the people trying to take good chance in this.few companies providing less price and few companies are giving freely. but few people keeping some links in that. so people do not like that kind of ideas. so try to plan and offer them differently.

I didn't get my phone from Chuck, but I was using the DDR 'hack' and my phone stopped working two days ago. It's unfortunate as I only had it for a few months, but oh, well.

I PM'd someone on the XDA forums with more knowledge than I about this exploit, but I've yet to hear back.

We also have this kind of offerings here in the Philippines except that it comes with a price depending on the dealer. I didn't buy my phone off Chuck, but I can confirm his data estimates. In Charleston, SC, I've gotten anywhere from 1Mbps down to over 30Mbps depending on my location.

what is the difference between the 4 phones as they are only hotspot devices ?

Could you check if this is possible to use it when moving outside the US ? internet is expensive when oversea, could be very useful !

Interesting. I don't live in the US but interested in the concept itself. How is it that the carriers can't detect the unlimited data consumption and contain it? Each SIM card is connected to a specific billing account, whether prepaid or postpaid, and that account is of course managed and controlled by the carrier, specifying voice, sms and data usage limits so how is this system bypassed? Won't they investigate if they discovered the "misuse" and refer the matter to law enforcement? It's a loophole, yes, but it's also fraud or to be more precise, misappropriation of the carrier's resources. Then of course if they do a forensic audit of usage logs they will see who you called, sites you accessed etc.

Or is this perfectly legal? Here where I live it's not so I would probably feel paranoid when using it since phones can now be located by fairly accurate triangulation.

I purchased one of these units. It came brand new, the box was opened of course because it had to be modified. It included all the original accessories and all the screen stickers etc were still in place. This device runs on the Sprint network, so check to see your coverage of this network before ordering. Where I am I usually get 2 bars, which gives me about 200 Kbps down and 100 Kbps up, but I am sure given a better connection this would go up. Update, I have used maybe about 4gb of data now. The speeds vary, depending on location and signal service. The device comes in really handy for people who travel alot. The internet went out at my job location as well, and the hotspot came in handy to connect to the internet to keep the business running smoothly.

I've gotten speeds as high as 40mbps because my city has LTE Plus by Sprint.

It depends on location and coverage. Larger cities (like Seattle and San Francisco) I get blazing fast speeds, around 30-40 mbps. Some areas (camping for example) the service will be less so the speeds will be lower.
