There was a coin called Motocoin (from memory) that at least initially was supposed to be only mined by humans (in the form of a motorbike game).

Unfortunately I think that automated gaming algorithms eventually took over (but it is at least perhaps something worth taking a look at as maybe you can learn some things from it).

One big problem that I see is motivating people to actually want to put in the effort (i.e. solving a block would want to be more worthwhile to someone than posting nonsense on this forum with an ad-sig is).

So I was thinking that it might be possible to adapt the idea behind CAPTCHA and create a new class of algorithms that are much more secure based on dynamically generating something like publicly verifiable abstract human reasoning problems. The algorithm would work by taking a block hash and using the information to construct a 3D world with a specific starting state and desired end state. The challenge would be to manipulate that world to produce the end state in such a way that the process would be difficult to impossible for an AI to repeat without applying human-level intelligence. And because these manipulations could be recorded -- once a solution was reached -- it could be used as a PoW to the rest of the network who can repeat those manipulations and determine if the end state was reached.

Think of it like a sandbox for intelligence problems but one whose solutions can be publicly verified and whose problem sets are essentially random. By applying this sandbox model as a proof-of-work algorithm on a sidechain, it becomes possible to make mining for that chain much more decentralized than traditional hash-based proof-of-work and at a lower cost than electricity. The human brain can only be optimized so much, meaning that intelligence-based proof-of-work will stay much more decentralized and open to participation (compared to buying expensive ASIC chips -- the chip you need is already inside your head.)

Such a currency would also contribute to the development of complex AI as the currencies existence would be an incentive for researchers to try break the sandbox algorithm, giving them an unfair advantage when it comes to solving new blocks. Given the state of current advances in AI it will become necessary to keep improving the sandbox algorithm (until human-level AI is achieved.) But having the whole chain broken at once from a new advance will never be a problem if the coin also incorporates Bitcoin's PoW into the minting process. That way old blocks will be cemented in time and researchers will only have an advantage with future blocks.

Who wants to help me design and develop this new PoW algorithm?

very interesting concept! But it really seems like a lot of work. Maybe you should really run a small ico

I'm trying to gauge whether something like this is worth my time working on. A lot of ideas seem interesting at first but then you find out later on that people were only saying that and no one really cares. That can add up to a huge amount of wasted time that can be better spent on other things so at the very least: if there's zero buzz around this idea then I'm not going to want to spend weeks researching various measures of intelligence, machine learning, CAPTCHA technology, and graphics programming to develop the required software.

A project like this is a huge undertaking and will require multi-disciplinary research so got to see if there's enough interest here first to justify that effort Smiley
to guage wether something is worth it , in crypto land is hard , first is to develop a basic road map and people always want more info , that is understandable to the tech heads and also to the layman , the more info the bigger the buzz mate

True. I'll start thinking of a good execution plan . Will also PM you soon since we seem to have a lot in common.
yep sent you a PM with skype details bud!

Interesting idea, if you go ahead with this it's going to be a massive project,  hope you know what your getting yourself into.

You should release an ICO, that will kick start the funding and it seems to be all the rage now  Cheesy
