Can you move XBT to a BTC wallet?  For instance if I buy XBT and want to cash it out via coinbase, can I transfer it to my coinbase BTC wallet? Or would I lose it?
Thanks

Read again what we wrote in this very thread. Hint: Yes.

"BTC" is in use by the community since 2009.
"XBT" is closer to ISO norm, as things like gold are abbreviated "XAU" (AU for aurum/gold).
So some people started reserving "XBT" themed domains, others used "XBT" as ticker symbold when integrating bitcoin somewhere where other tickers/currencies/stocks etc are listed.

In the end, as achow101 said, it doesn't matter to the network what the units are called, if you call the smallest unit "satoshi" and what color the "B" has in the logo ;-)

Cheers,

The software does not care about any abbreviations. Armory will be using BTC for any Bitcoin denominated things. The abbreviations are a human abstraction, the network doesn't care.

Hello,

I am a new Bitcoin trader in Australia. I have been in touch with independentreserve.com regarding purchasing bitcoin. They seem to be trading in XBT, which they say is BTC. It was suggested that I post here and check if Bitcoin Armory will accept the abbreviations and recognize XBT as being normal bitcoin.

Looking forward to your reply.

If not, can you please suggest some secure wallets that would be appropriate?
