what is being adopted by many companies that say they want to cooperate with bitcoin, including the Portuguese company Xiaomi, which is said to also want to cooperate with the crypto world, but this has not yet been realized will this be just an image or just looking for popularity maybe we as miners can only wait how the result of the process…and we hope that this will actually happen
true as you said, they said all of that just wanted to seek popularity, because in my opinion this news is not certain, they just planned it all, but if this news is true, maybe this will benefit both parties, the xiomi party will also get profit, and the bitcoin will be more and more popular again..

what the Xiaomi company in Portugal did by accepting bitcoin as their member in investing this could at least have a big impact on bitcoin itself.this non.cooperation will also benefit both parties.especially for Xiaomi itself.it can also boost sales of their cellphones on the stock market, we hope that this will be realized in the shortest possible time, with this collaboration there will be many other companies that will start collaborating with bitcoin

This news is seen to be more legit and not just a fake one. So this will create more positivity for bitcoin making its more popular and definitely will take a good price surge after this.

Things have been become better for bitcoin because after Amazon has decline the usage of bitcoin then here's another great news that will surely lift up bitcoin again. Its true when one door closes, the other window will probably open. So expect bitcoin to pump even more this time.

will this not disturb the xiaomi business in china, because of course this is interconnected
all xiaomi branches must be connected to their headquarters in china but all decisions must be approved by their head office in china

I'm honestly happy with this news and really look forward to a big domino effect on Bitcoin's price and adaptation
bull market before the end of this year will definitely happen again

I'm not surprised with the move because Portugal is known as one of the most crypto-friendly countries in Europe but I'm more intrigued with the brand. We all know that Xiaomi is a Chinese company and we also know (based on published articles) the unfriendly stance of the Chinese regulators towards crypto.
The Chinese government will roll their eyes and Xiaomi will stop accepting cryptocurrency because they cannot survive if they are going against the government. Whatever it may be how is the brand doing in Portugal, even though i never owned a product from them i heard they are having some slick products and so is the case with some of the Chinese Mobile brands, cheaper and have all the options like expensive ones.

Edit: So they backtracked from accepting cryptocurrency, i knew this will happen Cheesy .

The adoption of cryptocurrencies by institutions in different countries is having a positive impact on the world. Bitcoin transactions of such companies will increase its acceptability and will spread the word about Bitcoin among the general public. The steady rise in the price of Bitcoin is forcing individuals and organizations to think about it. As a result, many well-known first-place companies have begun to think about the use of Bitcoin. I think the process of using Bitcoin as a medium of the transaction has already started and the results are visible at the present time.

Of course they have developed a few years ago and when the development is successful it will be announced now, this will certainly have a big impact on bitcoin so the price will be even more expensive.

people in here talk about being spy by the company, people are quite understand about this before the buy, but if they still buy they must accept the negative side

and by the way im also xiaomi user, it because cheap and reliable (beside privacy and batery problem  Grin Grin)

That's another false question.
Furthermore, all smartphones are built in factories in China. It was easier than you think, creating this "such spy". Not to mention home appliances, and many other electronic components. Roll Eyes

In the middle of all this I raise a question, which I think is the most important:
Who has Bitcoin, is available to buy products directly with it?

Honestly, I don't think so! How many people are available to buy a smartphone that is currently worth 0.009BTC and tomorrow will only be worth 0.002BTC, due to the rise of Bitcoin?

maybe they will use third payment like coinpay or something else to convert bitcoin to fiat instantly but if this true people not gonna buy with bitcoin they will choose other than bitcoin like litecoin eth or xrp

bitoin is very valuable hahahha

The news has been published on cointelegraph. Even though the partners are scattered around the world who can adjust local policies independently, Xiaomi Global is still based in China which is not crypto friendly. This means that the Chinese government can still control the policies of any branch of the company as long as it is based in China, even if they are already in a country with different regulations.

Not necessarily disappointed, but shocked on the incompetency of that specific branch lol.

This is my main concern when using any chinese software/equipment.

I may be wrong, but I prefer a company like Google or Amazon spying on me than some chinese company. At least we have human rights in the countries where google/amazon are based on, so those companies will apply to more strict regulations regarding personal data.

Specially when buying a new smartphone/computer, which i add a lot of personal data.
Yea, if you'd force me to choose, I'd rather that Google gain access to my data than China. But then again, Google ain't the good guys regardless and I'd definitely prefer no one having access to my data.

Cryptocurrency adoption will enrich the usage of cryptocurrency market. What we see with Xiaomi is similar news, because people are more positive about it, bit there is official news stating the stop of bitcoin acceptance on the Portugal branch temporarily.

The Xiaomi headquarters iin China mainland has requested the Portugal section to stop the bitcoin acceptance for now. This is part of the Chinese regulations, but whats the need of making such a decision on the European nations. Let's wait what the next step forward from China.

hopefully this will greatly affect the price of bitcoin for the better in the future. I've also noticed lately that there's been some good news about bitcoin, I think this is the driving force behind the bitcoin price to get to the moon. it's time to wait for a very big harvest at the end of this year.
Of course this will have a positive impact on crypto, more and more global companies are accepting bitcoin so that the use of bitcoin will continue to increase and of course we will get big profits by holding bitcoin.

what the irony here is that - China is banning bitcoin miners, while this Xiaomi, a Chinese tech company, is accepting crypto as payment. do you see the picture here?  Grin
but definitely, this news is good for us. the more adoption of crypto payment, the better for the community. we actually need more merchants accepting crypto as payment to increase the demand in the market. the higher the demand, the higher the price.

Amazon is warming up, they will have no choice than to accept btc when the time comes, they are the ones that will be at great loss, they will eventually miss out if they fail to recognise the opportunity that is involved by introducing btc as a means of transaction, they should bull by the horn, others are already doing the right thing by accepting btc.

The second link isn't accessible mate, but anyways all details you've shared from first one has been doing great about xiaomi that's already accepting bitcoin for their products.
Furthermore, my thoughts for this current developments on cryptocurrency adoption which Bitcoin is mainly involved is that more opportunities will come at this point. In fact bitcoin now started to soar and at the latest price of $42k. Definitely this is a good signs to consider and positive feedbacks still continues to become transparent.

This is a step to walk to the moon, Xiaomi recently surpassed Apple in the smartphone market trying to live up to its motto of providing “innovation for everyone” by moving to crypto. However, it is not surprising that Xiaomi has chosen Portugal as a test ground for digital asset payments considering that it is considered the most crypto-friendly country in Europe due to its tax policy.

With all due respect to Xiaomi technology, I doubt that this will have an impact on the crypto market or adoption. This is not the first tech company that has introduced cryptocurrencies to its customers. As indicated in the article, Samsung has already done that with proposed blockchain wallets, HTC also had something of the sort, and all of that happened 1-2 years ago, but we didn’t see any effect resulting from these innovations.

The thing is, there are so many features in the tech world (and smartphones, in particular) right now that people don’t know how to use half of them, and blockchain, cryptocurrencies are yet another features that most people would most likely never use. I think Amazon adoption would’ve had a greater impact.

But generally, it’s good, maybe something will be out of it indeed, let’s see. I’m also interested to see how China will react to these new developments, Xiaomi is registered in there, after all.

What exactly is China's policy on cryptocurrency? If anyone has any idea then do quote.

from what i understand the chinese government wants to have all control over its people, but also if some chinese are in another country and found a company he can accept bitcoin that the chinese government will not persecute that person. The Chinese government just doesn't want to know about decentralized things in your country so as not to threaten its political and control system

well I wonder how many people will stop hodl to take their bitcoin and go buy things at Xiaomi Portugal

So, no they will not accept it.....for now!
Omg, they have confirmed back from the news that they initially received bitcoin, I don't understand very quickly xiaomi respond if from the beginning xiaomi portugal did not want to accept bitcoin.

They simply did not consult Xiaomi Global about this possibility.

Xiaomi Portugal, is just an affiliate of Xiaomi Global, they are two different companies. This is the company Select Smart, Lda, which is an official partner of Xiaomi in Portugal and the official authorized reseller that operates through Mi Store Portugal. In other words, to maintain this status, they have to do things according to Xiaomi Global standards.

This news is quite strange in the sense that Xiomi is a Chinese company...multinational company of course which comes from a state where crypto is not welcome. But what's interesting about all this is xiomi have decided to open its doors for crypto away from its home clearly shows that crypto is a game changer for any business and shows they want crypto to be part of their business. But how is the environment for crypto in Portugal is it a welcome technology there.

As far as I know, Xiaomi is a brand owned by the Chinese but whatever it is, I still see it as another milestone for cryptocurrency. While I also use their products (and not only phones!), I won't jump in joy for their smartphones. They are indeed pretty good for their price, but, again, everybody should be warned again and again:
It's a Chinese company with heavy control from their communist party. I would be surprised if they don't "send at home" at least now and then various information about their users. There's a strong security concern around them and one should be aware of what he holds in his pocket basically 24/7.

Pretty much this. Wonder why Apple phones are expensive as heck? Luxury pricing and marketing aside, one of the reasons is that Apple doesn't make money off our data. While we don't have proof of that, it's a pretty safe assumption simply because advertising isn't one of Apple's business monetization. Xiaomi and Google on the other hand, yea.. there are reasons why their devices are cheaper.

I was excited when I read the news today. Its a win for the crypto community even it is a small one, it put a smile on my face today. I expect more good news this month. Maybe China will rethink their stand on bitcoin and Bitcoin mining.
It's not a small one, remember that it's a country that they're operating in and they have adopted crypto payment system there, that's not a small one, it's a big one. I don't think China will rethink, they know what they're doing and they know that the only way is for them to move forward, it's not like their going to be the big market forever, there's about 6 billion more to advertise bitcoin to.

There are lots of big companies thess days making some announcement about accepting BTC. Apart from Xiaomi there is also Aramco of Saudi Arabia which is the biggest oil company. Time for companies to join before prices fly.

Xiaomi is a Chinese company manufacturing devices like phones. I don't doubt every Chinese are accumulating BTC though they may seem to be driving miners away. This is the kind of move that US companies should actually do as well than shutting down rumors because their government is cracking down cryptocurrency through their regulations.
Chinese citizens are very much in support of crypto companies but the challenge has always been with the government who tries to gain autonomy of the general assets in the country. It's a nice and welcome idea for xaiomi and a great news for the crypto industry as well waiting for more partners no matter how small the are let's take crypto a step higher

The government of China afaik classify BTC as asset but forbids institutions to add it on their balancesheets. But Xiaomi isn't a financial institution.

I have heard a lot of good things about Portugal from a couple of my foreign colleagues who are now thinking to move there to continue freelancing. They said the conditions for freelancing + earning in crypto is very warm in Portugal, with low tax requirements and low employment requirements,,, plus no problems with reporting income earnings in crypto. I feel like this could be the reason for the move from Xiaomi.

So far, private individuals do not have to declare earnings with crypto.
Only companies, you have to declare earnings with the crypto.

Of course, this could change at any time, but for now there is no indication in this direction.

I also that leading smart phone brand xiaomi started accepting crypto payment such as Bitcoin,ETH,Tether and Dash on their Portugal stores and now you can buy items by paying in any above listed coin.The move came part in Portugal only due to the crypto friendly regulations over there.They have partnered with Swiss cryptocurrency firm Utrust for making such payment and the native token of the firm is also being accepted on the MI store.They have recently surpassed apple and Samsung in leading global smartphone market and now this move will boost the company revenue also.

Pedro Maia head of Marketing at Mi Portugal store says :

Quote
We are technological, innovative and distruptive brand. That's why we want to remain one step ahead.We want to the give the possibility to all true technology fans to buy their favourite gadgets with latest technology which is cryptocurrencies.

With this move we might see another big companies also going for the same decision in the long run.

Oh, but I know that they do. The point is that while Google has spied on me for 20+ years and they've done no real harm, while Samsung also spied on me for many years, again with no harm, I'm less concerned about what these do with my data than what a totalitarian state with its own odd rules and politics.
However, what I want is awareness. As long as people know, it's fine. Then each and every one can act based on his knowledge and levels of paranoia  Wink

Do you think that Apple or Samsung do not spy on their users in the same way as Chinese companies? It all comes down to how people perceive a company, and we all know that the American political propaganda machinery made sure to portray the Chinese as evil communists, while on the other hand, they (the US) have the largest spy network in the world - or maybe Snowden lied about everything? There is no privacy if you use any device, because they are all designed to send data to someone - not just through software, but also through hardware.

As for Xiaomi, this is not a surprising move, especially for Portugal, which has positioned itself as a crypto-friendly country. In addition, many mobile phones and IT equipment stores in the EU have been accepting BTC for years and it is not a problem to buy any brand of smartphones and pay with BTC.

what are you thoughts ?
However, this decision does not sufficiently affect the interest of investors, because it seems that this is a decision made by Xiaomi from Portugal only and not globally.
I have a feeling this might be one of those testing phases and if everything goes smoothly, they'd probably expand it into other markets as well.
- Having said that, @CoinTelegraph included a tweet from their partner [Utrust], but for some reason, that tweet no longer exists [a bit strange].

Does this mean that they'll keep bitcoin or will actually receive fiat at the end of the day?
According to their partner's "website", looks like [screenshot] everything is going to be converted right away but they could also opt to receive cryptocurrencies.

Why only in Portugal? I read it's 'cause of the tax policy, but that's only compared with other EU countries, and Xiaomi is available worldwide. My smartphone's actually Xiaomi, and I find it very convenient and well-performing (but I don't trust a smartphone with cryptos and never access my crypto funds from my phone). But in my country, they're usually sold in shops that specialize on devices from various brands. So does this decision apply only to the official Xiaomi stores in Portugal? Or will other retailers have to agree to accept Bitcoin for their Xiaomi products?

I'm not surprised with the move because Portugal is known as one of the most crypto-friendly countries in Europe but I'm more intrigued with the brand. We all know that Xiaomi is a Chinese company and we also know (based on published articles) the unfriendly stance of the Chinese regulators towards crypto.

This is also my first thought, it is a well known Chinese company, and it was even ban by the Trump administration, but it was reverse recently.

So it was a surprised when the Chinese government are cracking down everything related to bitcoin, then suddenly they start accepting it. Now sure if they have ask their government, but if not, then this could spell trouble for them in my opinion. Anyhow, it's business and at the end of the day, they should cater for everything including cryptos.

~~~
While I also use their products (and not only phones!), I won't jump in joy for their smartphones. They are indeed pretty good for their price, but, again, everybody should be warned again and again:
It's a Chinese company with heavy control from their communist party. I would be surprised if they don't "send at home" at least now and then various information about their users. There's a strong security concern around them and one should be aware of what he holds in his pocket basically 24/7.
I don't know if it's true though but they have already claimed to not be in any way connected to the Chinese government not to mention that they don't have plans to divulge their data to anyone and they aren't a big market in China so I don't worry too much but it could be true and that they are really doing something shady.
I firstly thought about Xiaomi since the title isn't complete and then yeah, it's really Xiaomi of Portugal. This is just another move from this retailer that's going to be passed on with another retailer that will try to compete with what they've done.
It's for sure that the adoption will come no matter what rejection the biggest retailers and companies will do to bitcoin. They're not the only companies that shall accept bitcoin, there's more and it's just starting.
Xiaomi is a big company that is popular even as a competitor to the iPhone in the world of the smartphone business. The adoption of bitcoin by Xiaomi certainly opens up opportunities for Bitcoin owners to buy Xiaomi products using alternative cryptocurrency payments. However, this decision does not sufficiently affect the interest of investors, because it seems that this is a decision made by Xiaomi from Portugal only and not globally.
And Xiaomi isn't some random bootleg tech company, they actually create great products(privacy concerns aside).
Yep, Xiaomi became what Samsung was 10-15 years ago. I own several of their products and when looking for something that offers good value for money, you can always count on Xiaomi no matter what you are buying; whether its mobile phone, laptop, TV, vacuum cleaner or something else.
Xiaomi fights hard to get as big as possible share of the market (they did surpass Apple!).
It is just a matter of time before they surpass Samsung too worldwide, as  they already managed to do that here in Europe during Q2 2021.
Anyway, definitely positive news and expecting the same from Xiaomi in other countries as well.
hopefully, not only Xiaomi in Portugal accepts crypto but in all branches...
Portugal is one of the crypto-friendly countries, this is what makes the Xiaomi Portugal branch not hesitate to accept crypto. Portugal has left china far behind.
I think this is very good news, there are so many FUD during this bearish market trend. I think we are close to the next bullish market trend. I hope atleast it can prevent bitcoin price to fall deeper. For me this is important because most of people use smartphone and pretend the smartphone is part of themselves, so more people will be more familiar with bitcoin. In my opinion it is also a clever decision because cryptocurrency community is a big community, targeting this market will be very profitable for the company.
Xiaomi was in partnership with Microsoft but isn't ex-CEO of Microsoft Bill Gates an anti-crypto or specifically Bitcoin? Well, read somewhere that Microsoft is crypto friendly but I don't see any legitimate claim but I see this ION project from Microsoft that builts atop Bitcoin blockchain. Just trying to thread here.
Not to join in with the hype or be a Xiaomi fanboy but I strongly agree with Xiaomi's decision on accepting crypto as a mode of payment. Xiaomi is from China and the company itself has made its name after bringing out affordable but powerful smartphones, And now that they are accepting crypto as a new form of mode of payment, this can definitely accumulate more customers.
Xiaomi is part of Tencent, If they are accepting cryptocurrency then other companies that Tencent owns might start accepting cryptocurrency in the future. Then there is CCP which indirectly controls Tencent, their policy is to completely ban cryptocurrency in China but, they are willing to accept it from a foreign country. What exactly is China's policy on cryptocurrency? If anyone has any idea then do quote.
Cryptocurrency as a mode of payment from Xiaomi is a big step. Xiaomi is a grown country that has reached good market value in a very short term with its affordable list of smartphones, smart TV's and othe gadgets in the market. Now cryptocurrency acceptance from Xiaomi Portugal will increase its fanbase. Being a Chinese firm it has started the service with Portugal before it's service in Asian Countries.
When people learn of the capabilities that Xiaomi has on their phones and their price range compared to a latest model of an iPhone, I am sure that their market popularity is going to jump in prices because they do deliver what they advertise on their phone, and I am currently using one of their models and I am jubilant that it's working as intended.
Xiaomi fights hard to get as big as possible share of the market (they did surpass Apple!). They started with making reasonably good products at reasonable prices (still, the privacy concerns remain) and accepting bitcoin is just a step forward in getting some more customers.
Does this mean that they'll keep bitcoin or will actually receive fiat at the end of the day? I tend to believe it's still the fiat, sadly. Nevertheless, it's still good news.
what are you thoughts ?
I often read that Portuguese people/entrepreneurs/government treat Bitcoin well.
After I saw the topic about Xiaomi in portugal, I assume portugal the company in portugal has added new rules for the portugal people in buying Xiaomi cellphones, Previously they also made it easier to buy Property with Bitcoin, now they are doing something useful for bitcoin users in buying Xiaomi cellphones.
Xiaomi in my country is also one of the most widely used products by many people, the price is also quite cheap and affordable, in my opinion the Xiaomi company, I hope the system used by the Xiaomi company in Portugal can also be implemented in my or in every country that has Xiaomi products, even though it comes from china.
Xiaomi is a Chinese company manufacturing devices like phones. I don't doubt every Chinese are accumulating BTC though they may seem to be driving miners away. This is the kind of move that US companies should actually do as well than shutting down rumors because their government is cracking down cryptocurrency through their regulations.
Chinese citizens are very much in support of crypto companies but the challenge has always been with the government who tries to gain autonomy of the general assets in the country. It's a nice and welcome idea for xaiomi and a great news for the crypto industry as well waiting for more partners no matter how small the are let's take crypto a step higher
But I suppose Bezos can buy up more BTC without having to accept thru his store.
I was expecting the article to be some misleading article with like a small local tech store that sells Xiaomi accepting cryptocurrencies, and I'm really happy to be wrong. It's actually an official Xiaomi store!
And Xiaomi isn't some random bootleg tech company, they actually create great products(privacy concerns aside).
it's fine bro maybe its not about brand. Coz we all know that xiomi is one of the most popular brand because of the standard, let see what will be the impact in the market before we give doubts.. In fact like you said that country is a crypto friendly so perhaps there will be a good results because of that good news.
