STEP BY STEP OVERCLOCK GUIDE FOR GETTING STABLE 430H/S WITH GIGABYTE RX560 4GB ON MONERO (XMR) CRYPTONIGHT V7 IN WINDOWS 10

Hi, I have made this guide to help out people mining with Gigabyte RX560 4GB cards.
I found that the info for overclocking online is a little fragmented and hard to find all the settings you need in one place.
This guide is for Windows 10 - I couldn't seem to get any changes using Windows 7, decided to try Windows 10 and that seemed to do the trick.
I haven't tested speeds on Ethereum (ETH) but I have a stable 430h/s on Monero using XMR-STAK. Power draw on the card is approx 35W and temps are holding around 55C and fan speed is 45% - so nice and quiet, and a great improvement on the 280-300h/s you get out of the stock card. I am currently running 2 cards and this has worked on both cards. Others have claimed to get higher than this though this would most likely require alot of tinkering around that could brick your cards - and they are tightlipped about how they have done it.
First of all there are a few things you will need to download before you begin (trust me, it is easier to download them all first) - just google them - they are easy to find and download:
- ATIWINFLASH
-ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
-DDU display driver removal tool
-SRBPolaris V3.4
-GPU-Z
-MSI Afterburner (or your preferred overclocking tool)
-AMD Video Drivers (either the Beta Blockchain driver or the latest Adrenaline drivers)
-XMR-STAK
I started with a fresh installation of Windows 10 - however this probably isnt necessary if you already have it installed - just make sure to follow all the steps and in the correct order or you may run into some problems.
STEP 1. FLASH A NEW CUSTOM BIOS TO THE CARD
Start by running ATIWINFLASH, once open it should detect your card. In the bottom middle of the window is a button labelled "SAVE". Press this and save the original BIOS - I called mine OriginalRX560.rom. Once the bios has been saved, run SRBPolaris. In the top right of the screen, you should see a button labelled "OPEN BIOS". Click this button and load up your bios that you just saved. Once loaded, click the tab labelled "Mem Timings" and on the right hand side you will see a button labelled "PIMP MY STRAPS". Press this button and it will change your straps according to your memory type for better performance. Once this has been done you can click the button at the top right labelled "SAVE BIOS". Call it something like ModdedRX560.rom - you should now have your original as well as your modded bios. Now go back to ATIWINFLASH, and click the button at the bottom left labelled "LOAD IMAGE" and select the modded bios file you just created and then click "PROGRAM" and let the program do its thing - it will tell you to reboot but don't reboot just yet.
STEP 2. CLEAN OUT DRIVERS, REINSTALL DRIVERS AND PATCH PIXEL CLOCK
Now before you reboot, run the DDU tool to remove your current display drivers. When open in the top left of the screen, click the button labelled "CLEAN AND RESTART". This will remove your current drivers and then reboot your system. Once back in Windows you can go ahead and install the AMD Video Drivers again (You can try the Beta Blockchain driver but if it keeps crashing your system then the latest Adrenaline drivers will do fine), however when complete, do not restart straight away. You now need to run the Pixel Clock Patcher to patch your new bios file or you will receive an error code 43 when the system restarts. Running the patcher should bring up a small window with a series of items and "FOUND" next to each item. Click "YES" and wait a few moments and once it is complete, you can restart your system again.
**Just remember to run the Pixel Clock Patcher after any reinstallation or upgrade of your graphics driver before rebooting the system due to the custom bios on the card**
STEP 3. SET UP YOUR CARD FOR MINING.
Once back in windows, your card should be installed and working properly. You now need to open up the AMD Radeon Settings, go to the "Gaming" tab, go to "Global Settings" and change the workload option from "Graphics" to "Compute" (not needed if using beta driver). The settings will restart for this change to take effect. The next step is to set your core and memory speeds. I use MSI Afterburner but feel free to use another tool, just remember to use these settings. I adjusted the Core Clock to 1130 and the Memory Clock to 1950 and set the fan speed at 45%. Your card should now be set for mining optimally.
STEP 4. SET XMR-STAK CONFIGURATION
So the last step now is to set up the AMD configuration file in XMR-STAK. Go to the folder where you installed this and there open the file named AMD.txt and make sure the config looks like this:

If running multiple cards on one board, alter the file accordingly, so for 2 boards it would look like this:

Now you can save this file, and run XMR-STAK.
Your cards should now be hashing at a stable 430h/s each with a stable temperature of 55C and a power draw of approx 35W (You can use the GPU-Z tool to monitor the power draw and temps).

My rx 550 2gb mod bios have 450h/s

I just finished building a 6 RX 560 gpus based rig to mine Electroneum/Sumokoin. Currently getting 3.1  kh/s (517+ h/s per card) for 350 watt at the wall. I am able to get around 100 Electroneum per day. Currently cryptos are going through a bloodbath, so my today's revenue (considering 9 cent per Electroneum coin) is 9 dollars. Total daily expense is 350 x 24 x 1/1000 x 0.17 = $1.5   (my tariff is $0.17 per unit). Thus $7.5 profit per day.  So my ROI at this rate is around 6-7 months.  Similar is the situation with Sumokoin.

If Electroneum can break $0.20 in two months time (which looks achieveable as they have now started signing contracts with companies) I will be able to recover the capital cost in 2-3 months.

So I would suggest go with 6 gpus atleast as you will still be paying for motherboard, CPU, RAM, PSU, SSD, and risers. With six gpus your capital cost is more evenly distributed.

Everyone is so fixated with higher end cards, that they are way too expensive.

Note that the latest version of XMR-STAK also mines with the CPU by default; you can disable with the --noCPU switch on the command line.

So far only Claymore (XMR) and Skunk (SIGN) have been used by NiceHash.

For my cards the best config (for sgminer-gm miner) is:

290 H/s is very low for a RX560. My RX550 runs with stock setup ~310 H/s. Try to increase your HashCnt in the config (Claymore Miner) to ( -h 896 ) or higher until it drops down.

No. The hashrates, mentioned above, are from 2017-12-26, and now they are on the same level.
As far, as I know, the net difficulty doesn't affect the hashrate on cryptonight algo.

I get 290 H/s per card on my 2x Radeon RX560 OC Gamming @ stock BIOS and mem clock 1970 (2000 max stock clock).
I get about 8 USD profitability per week on each card (before power cost). Is this normal?
I see you guys reporting 400+ H/s.
Are those values from previous dificulty (easier) or still getting that?
I am very new to mining, this is my 2nd day.

1. Mem timings. You need to mod the 460s BIOS with, for example, Samsung Uber Mix 3.2
2. This is 460, it's weaker than 560. Again, you need to mod BIOS, to unlock it to 560 (if this card is able to afford it)

Here is, how it can dig. The rig config is 3 x Sapphire RX560(Micron), 1 x Asus RX560(Micron), 1 x Asus RX570(Elpida+Hynix)
All cards are flashed with modded BIOS, core/mem are 1150/2000

I have 3 x Sapphire Pulse RX 560 4GB cards with micron memory OC to 1250/1950(no bios mod) for mining Monero. Each has 395 H/s, total 1185 H/s.
My other PC is with 1 x Sapphire RX 460 2GB OC(Samsung), no matter how I overclock it, result is around 330 H/s. I wonder what is wrong?

How many card did You run at the same time ? I've noticed, that i can run single card with very high hashrate, but when running 12 it becomes unstable

Of course, you need 2gb card with elpida memory, core 1050 clock, and mem 2030.

XMR is not as memory intensive as ETH, works well on 1GB cards too

Mine have Elpida mem, and look that's best one to dig.
I did even 570 on them, but unstable, rock solid is 530 and about 45-50W per each card. Whole rig takes 670W.

And what's strange , 4GB gets lower hashrate than 2GB. All my 530hash cards are 2gb.

Best I did so far is 471 on micron based cards and 440 on Hynix...but thats on ETH optimized

If/when Claymore optimize kernels for baffin too, RX560s will probably beat 500H/s, with very low power (in 30-40W per card range)

I would stay away from the RX560's for XMR. You can find old 280X for $100 or less and with your cheap power you can get ROI for a rig with 6 cards.
They hash stock at about 550.

450mhs is optimistic - you need to have the right cards and the right bios/settings to reach that.  Out of the box they do 315-330.

Even if you get 450mhs, it's going to take you 8-9 months to break even on the cards.  If you're going into this for short-term (one-year) profits, it's probably not going to work for you well.  If you're doing this as a hobby, and you like tinkering, and you plan to mine and sell a portion of your mined coins to diversify your altcoin portfolio to hold for the long-term, then it might be fun and possibly profitable.

I'm paying $0.06/kwh for my electricity, which works, but I'm wondering if I will get ROI back, and if I should even buy the miners.

It's about the cost of your electricity and the life span of the hardware. Mining both monero and ethereum from GPUs is profitable in normal case.

You forget about one very important information when you asked your question ...
How much are you paying for electricity (with all the taxes) ? this is a mayor factor to calculate your mining income.

with current difficulty , monero/fiat exchange rate with 4 cards you can get around 80$/months minus electricity
if you have to pay 9-10 cents/kwh (or 0.09-0.1USD/kwh) you not going to make any extra income with current difficulty and monero/fiat exchange rate as of today 09/23/2017 .. what you mining you going to spend on your power bill

use a very simple mining calculator , put there your electricity rate and find out ...

So I'm thinking of cashing in some of my BTC, to the tune of $900 and buying 4x RX 560 4GB cards to mine Monero, or even possibly Ethereum (or ethereum classic depending on whichever is a better investment...) Each card should get a base hash rate of 350h/s.
Mining calc tells me that it's $80, with current difficulty and price, a month, on the cards alone (mining Monero).
So is it a good idea to buy them and try my luck with gpu mining or keep the bitcoin and hope the price keeps going up?
