DOn't get me wrong I love this action, but just giving a fair warning.

Just curious, are you a trader or hodler?

I'm trading the majority of what I bought but holding about 20% of it. I got lucky and was able to enter mostly 140k and 180k sats.

We've gone parabolic, and we have resistance at each fib level. This could be murky waters because we can move down just as fast as we're moving up. DOn't get me wrong I love this action, but just giving a fair warning.

I keep getting this error when starting bitmonerod.exe

Can someone kindly advise how do I resolve this please?

My computer blue-screened after starting up bitmonerod.exe just a while ago.
I restarted the computer and bitmonerod.exe started to show this error messages.

There could be a couple reasons for the error.

Are you running a released build or one you or someone compiled? What version?

It appears to be on height 0. Does that sound right, or had you previously had a database?

If the former, it would be easiest to start with a fresh database directory and see if that works.

To do so, you could remove the two *.mdb files in your current monero data dir's lmdb/ directory and then start the daemon.

If you want to leave your current database intact for further investigation, you can start the daemon with another data dir:
bitmonerod --data-dir /path/of/your/choice

If you want to follow up, it's better to use the support thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652305.new

Appreciate your kind advice warptangent.

I deleted the data.mdb as I suspected it got corrupted during the Windows hard crash.
Now have to spend umpteen hours to regenerate the full blockchain from scratch (I use HDD).

Testing the level for a breakout now.  The next 24 hours are critical . Maybe Jaimie Diamond is buying in?  RealMattDamon told him to.

Oh the nostalgia!

Etherium folks seem to be reasonable, as far as I am aware, they are buying Monero also... This is what I read from trollbox.

BTW, 40-50 % of the shorts I was offering has been closed during past few hrs at loss (they were taken around 0.002).

I was was also thinking about that. Loans have to be repaid eventually so that can help with the rally on the way up if there are still a lot of short sellers remaining.

I don't lend or trade on margin but understand the impact it can have on markets.

Dumpers tend to be early and when the price really starts rising is when the dumpers are done their selling. Therefore many coins have suffered from hardships to go beyond the ATH. There are more air when we establish XMR over ATH price as the weak hands have been shaken before it.
With current volumes of 1000-3000 btc a day with 0 weak hands the price of XMR theoretically could be 0.10-0.20 BTC/XMR.
That's with current emission. The emission is getting lower quite fast still... By the end of this year it is already quite tight.

Summer 2014 the emission was a lot higher and there were pretty much nothing done to develope the product.
newb question, what does the emission of Monero mean?

How many new coins are created per day.

It decrease steadily and daily, not halve every few years like in Bitcoin.

Every time I think it's done, we bump a little higher.  Will we see 400k this trip?  Top 430k?  or can moon be a real destination?  I just love being well out of the red ink for a change  Tongue

Distance from earth to moon is 385k.  Just sayin'.  300 BTC takes us there right now.  Just a tiny sliver of pizza.

That would mean about 38 BTC/day to maintain that price. At which price level do you suppose the current 10k emission will begin being a problem?

Did I look the price chart upside down . Anything significant happened to monero ?

An overview of what happened in the last few months:

What good news are you thinking of?  There are so many possible candidates that I don't even...

Trezor support     https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/2495/experimental-trezor-firmware-testing
GUI Wallet under active development    https://github.com/mbg033/monero-core
Hard fork coming up to fix mixin 0 problem
Kovri under active development to fix IP address problem    https://github.com/monero-project/kovri
RingCT will be implemented sometime in 2016
Community funding of community / core projects totaling 62,788 XMR

Oh yeah, and of course, Monero a secure and fungible digital currency that can be used here and now

You forgot some things :-P

- Exodus integrating XMR (exodus.io)
- Multi-sig
- 2 minute block times which will improve security of the network

I am probably forgetting some myself too.

Furthermore, Monero has an adaptive blocksize limit (in combination with a tail emission) and is therefore not subject to any blocksize issue. See:

Dont forget about Tutanota officially expressing interest in Monero:
