OP, is that a price prediction? I much i love you own some XMR, but i am not going to buy because i expect the price to reach $500 this year. I know this is not likely going to happen. Since there has not been updates so far, to see a steady growth in the price, i am not sure it will have such capacity. Well, maybe in few years to this time or in 2020, it might come to reality. Just an assumption.

Yeah right. But I think most of the coins still rely on the bitcoin price. Why dont we help bitcoin first then maybe our coins could be dragged by the upward market of it.

Just my observation, I see major coins dont have an individual price. It is like they are leaning on the price of bitcoin for now and when it is down everything falls.

In the next 5 years, I can believe that XMR could rise to $ 500 as he predicted. But currently not, XMR will certainly be lower than $ 100 this year even though the bear market starts

You are correct about GRIN but XMR doesn't have a fixed supply neither.

GRIN is 60coins/minute, XMR is 0.3XMR/minute.

2 years from now, we'll know who is serious about hodling GRIN and who's not so that 1GRIN/Second inflation rate won't affect the markets like it will in the first 2-3 years.

Remember how XMR lost most of its value at the beginning. Same will happen to GRIN.

I like Monero's anonymity. But there are not too many conditions for monero to reach $ 500 in 2019. You can see that the market is in recession and can't stop. Monero and other cryptocurrencies are affected by bitcoin prices so it cannot achieve what you expect.

GRIN may be a competitor in sense of being a new anonymous coin but it has nothing to say in the market as an investment for traders because of its horrible supply and distribution design.

monero and the perfect virtual currency for those who want to remain anonymous and have a great future, but lately there have not been major structural changes or innovations to its blockchain so i think at least for now its price will not change that much...

GRIN is a serious competitor to XMR. XMR has years of history which is very important but if GRIN proves its usefulness  in a year, XMR may lose some of its marketcap to GRIN.

XMR will always be a thing but 500USD in 2019 is very unlikely.

Right now, most coins are priced a lot under the market and this is indeed very detrimental where people do have to be more careful in determining which investment is suitable for them

For all time of existence of XMR the price of a coin never exceeded $500. In 2019, I think there is no possible scenario in which the price of the coin will be able to reach such a mark. At best, this can be hoped for when the new bullrun starts.

interestingly enough it seems like nowadays everyone is saying the same thing about any coin they have like OP does. they all claim their bags are going to be worth a lot by the end of this year. which only proves that the altcoin bear market is not yet over and the dumps will continue for a longer period of time.

as for XMR i don't think time can change much, if anything it makes it worse because of its scaling problems.

XMR is a good coin but nothing has been happening for sometime on the part of the dev and team although anything can happen, we just hope for the best.

I doubt XMR will be worth $500 in 2019. Even during the bull market, the value of the coin was around $400. In my opinion, this price will be possible only after a few years, when there will be improvements in the coin network and the market will become bullish.

Not only that. But when you accept Monero you never need to know where those Monero come from since those coins have no history. When you accept some transparent ledger coin it might have tainted history and latter on no one want to accept it. So accepting such coins from strangers is super risky. Accepting Monero from strangers is totally cool. Because Monero is real digital cash.

Monero is one of the real crypto currency,which is created for the inention of decentralization but it is much silent when compared to other coins but yes the prices will shoot up if cryptos becomes a payment system because it is more anonymous so people who may not want to get traced will use moero than other coins like bitcoin.

I treat monero positively and know what a stable coin is and what he is still capable of. But so far, the proposed amount, which should beat the last record, seems not very logical. Yes, and such a huge growth can be achieved only with the ideal components.

 I think most coin will only try to balance in this year for the next bull as year 2020 will be a starting edge for the move which I believe might even go beyond the predicted price by 2021 cos I think 2020 will be the starting point and finally get the top by 2021 for every coin and alts. IMO, XMR is one of the best privacy coin with active developer and supportive community. It is possible to see XMR at $500 if crypto market start pumping again and go beyond the previous ATH.

Monero still needs time before increase back, but to increase to $500, I think it's hard to reach in this year. But we know, every possibility can happen in the cryptocurrency and who knows, monero can increase higher after the middle of this year and the price can start to raise the higher price. Monero has a big chance to increase higher, but monero need to wait for bitcoin movements in this year so monero price can start to increase again.

Starting from the fact that you simply can't predict an exact price, then what OP said isn't better than someone trying to predict market movements using a crystal ball. What's funnier is that OP even goes even further and says what the elleged price will in 5 years...How can you even predict what the price is gonna be in 5 years when no one even knows what's gonna happen in the next 24 hours?

I'm a XMR holder myself, I think it's one of the most undervalued coins in the market, but this is just dumb.

I think it is difficult to judge how much it will cost xmr in such a market, now most of the coins are falling, and the whole cryptocurrency in General , I do not think that xmr will now grow and especially to such values

Monero is a promising project, but I think that price target is wholly unrealistic given that it would exceed the previous All Time High in what is still an unbroken 12 month bear market. Bitcoin is still controlling the rest of the crypto market caps at the present time so you would also need to see Bitcoin over $20,000 for proportionally XMR to get close to $500.

I like anon designs and I also have a lot of optimism about XMR, but if it's $500 in May, what will be the price of the BTC? Still not yet. 500 dollars is a pretty high value. And XMR or other coins, you can only get this price if Bitcoin is above 10k dollars. And of course, I don't think this year will happen. Wait for another 1 or 2 years. After Bitcoin halving. And the price of Altcoin will follow.

I hope menero can touch 500 dollars this year 2019. I still have some Monero Im still hoping for the value of thsi coin to go back what the highest value they reached in the year 2017. But for me $500 is enough for this year and after 1 year ago hope to see again  near at 1000 dollars for the value of the Monero and better to see more than that.

2019? I don't think so... Maybe in 2020, maybe after the Bitcoin halvening. It requires more market participants in crypto. More buyers of Monero.

Unfortunetely for Monero its failing as digital cash. There are simply not enough transactions and payments taking place on its network and its traded volume is very low compared to its competitors.
Then there is also the lack of integrations on exchanges and the lack on certain sites that would have strenghten its use case as digital cash .. this is not helping Monero either.

I like Menero, they have unique technology. but if I talk about prices, I think it's difficult to use it. imagine $500 is a pretty high price, this is only a game of speculators so that many are interested. tragically this is very unrealistic even if the market is being pumped, the price of XMR will never reach $500.

Monero is currently, just as any other crypto, more or less tied to Bitcoin.
Sure Monero can go to $400 - just at has been before. but that was following Bitcoin.
there is not much development wise that could give Monero alone any push.

That is total bullshit. Monero have protocol upgrades every half year. With huge improvements. Monero code is basically totally different then it was in 2014 as bitmonero. Half year ago with bulletproofs transaction sizes and fees reduced by factor 8. In a month when is next protocol upgrade blockchain size will reduce on half. And there will be many many new upgrades.  Monero is not without any result the coin with most developers activity on github. There have to be result of hard work. And all this is achieved with a classic open source project founded by community.  It is just amazing!

For me, XMR is still pretty good and reliable and able to provide benefits one day. There is no anxiety for me to continue to hold XMR that I have, because surely when the price of crypto rises again, XMR and other coins will rise too.


I think there is no need to stay away from XMR, all that is needed is to play safe and pick the right spots

Nothing can stop them from moving up. Although there are some coins that competes this project XMR still had maintained it position above even with this bear market. You might not heard of where the coin is being used and which merchants are accepting it but the volume of this coin is astonishing. $500 may be too high to accomplish this year but yes its still possible if indeed the bullrun continues this year,

I think it's difficult for XMR to touch $500. The highest price XMR  is $ 494 and that is in January 2018. I think it still takes a long time for XMR to touch the price of $500.

They have not reached to that level and I would like to see them going to that level, but it would take a bull run and all the coins reaching their all-time high again for Monero to reach to that price level, it's a good coin they deserve a spot in the top 5 coins in the market.

On the other hand, although I'd be more than happy to see such price (I own a few XMR) it's hard to achieve it, especially since some exchanges seem to be afraid to list this coin (and some even think it's used only for criminal activity).

In order to get a price increase a cryptocurrency either needs a lot of hype (which is easy when you start a project but a lot harder when you have an already established project) or it needs
a specific use case (pref several use cases). A use case that investors can regnonice and see potential in.

Throughout 2018 and into 2019 Monero is lagging behind in transactions and traded volume, compared to its direct competitors.
Monero managed to get itself cornered in a niche market, the privacy-centric-only market (to be fair there are some other crypto projects like Zcash who are in that same situation but they have more transactions / volume)
Monero's ASIC debacle (its network is currently overrun by ASIC miners ,while it suppose to be an ASIC resistant network), together with the possiblity of needing recurring hard forks to block ASIC miners could potentially turn investors off

Its been long time since xmr has better improvement to there blockchain or any roadmap apart from forks I'm not saying its not possible to reach the 500$ spot but I hope there will be some future upgrades that can really help xmr ,no doubt the coin is one of the best privacy coins out there

After it hit its all time high last year at $480 it won't be surprising if it will be going for it again. It remained silent for a long time and declines slowly after the ath but i guess it will just be like bitcoin on hibernating stage preparing for another pump this year or maybe next year.
