The thread you linked where this problem was solved also provides a link to catalyst 12.8:

Here's the message I posted: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1877943

Here's the link to catalyst: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amd-driver-installer-12-8-x86.x86_64.zip

The question you have is what the heck do you do with the above?

1. Download it:
Code:
wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amd-driver-installer-12-8-x86.x86_64.zip
2. Unzip it:
Code:
unzip amd-driver-installer-12-8-x86.x86_64.zip
3. Execute it
Code:
sudo bash amd-driver-installer-8.982-x86.x86_64.run
4. Follow instructions provided on the screen.

Hello there,

I wondered if anyone else had the same problem as me and if so how they went about fixing it.

Basically when mining using 2x Sapphire 7950s on Xubuntu with CGminer I only get about 500 kh/s (LTC mining) between the two GPUs, if I disable one of them I still get 500 kh/s. The problem has been solved here :
Code:
 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178963.0
and it was found that catalyst 12.10 was incompatible .

I'm unsure however about how to go  install catalyst 12.8 as I just follow the guide on:
Code:
http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/04/build-a-litecoin-mining-rig-linux
Which just says type the following into the terminal:

Code:
sudo apt-get install fglrx-updates fglrx-amdcccle-updates fglrx-updates-dev
sudo aticonfig --lsa
sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --initial
sudo reboot

And there is no mention of installing a specific catalyst let alone how to go about installing  a different one.

If anyone has any advice to offer that would be excellent,
