Which begs the question - how did other escrow "agents" get started in the biz. Sounds like a complete catch 22. Did they just do some private deals and get a positive trust rating first? Then move into the escrow biz?
People ask me to escrow all the time. I have never lent or borrowed BTC myself. I guess they just notice the people who are active and active in a positive way. I have invested so much time into the community that it is unlikely I would run with the coins.

It's probably because of your involvement in the community and your green Trust: 1: -0 / +3(3) rating. But yeah, I agree you should only let people hold on to your money who seem to be long standing active members as they probably care more about the community and rep than scamming you out of your 0.05BTC
