Color me curious but is Yacoin the same as Yakcoin? First time I heard of this cryptocurrency so I'm not really sure if they're the identical to each another.

I refer to this one

For me Alt coins is more about learning how the diffrent virtual currency systems work and how one can implement bitcoins better.

Is it a good idea to have lots of alt coins, or to find some way of layering these things like the internet protocols themselves?

I think a certain diversity can't hurt. There is a lot of different fiat money and crypto money just started.  Wink

Diversity in cryptocoin implementations will rise the amount of money held in crypto coins while the devs
can learn what works and what won't.

All alt coins, from LTC to Yacoin to Buttcoins are driven only to pump and flip to BTC.  Any effort you make on altcoins would be 1000% better spent on just acquiring BTC.

LTC seems to have a infrastructure of its own now, having a reddit channel, atlantis (not really
necessary but it is there) and being an alternative to GPU miners. But as I said, I only watching this
for some days.

Its difficulty can grow very fast... but transactions now are very fast too. If you send money from wallet to wallet, you can see that they're passed in ~10 seconds.

Hello,

being a newbie  ( Wink ) and watching the growth and fun with YaCoin I wonder
whether this all happens because a lot of people are interested in quick money only or
there is real interest in the coin because of the fact that it ist CPU-mining only. At least
currently.

The network seems to be quite fast, the coin is not premined - looks like a fair coin for me.

Opinions? Do you think it is worth the CPU cycles?

Thanks
