Okay, I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record here... but today I met yet another guy that does computer crap for a living, yet didn't know diddly about bitcoin.... who's not getting the word out? This is a guy that halfway runs the IT dept in the Fortune 500 company where I work... I made some remark about bitcoin... and he's like "Yeah, I heard something about that the other day..." I proceeded to fill him in, and to his credit he seemed very interested, and went off in search of Google. I'm just amazed that someone who does computer stuff for a living, although I'm sure he's busy putting out fires and helping clueless newbies, but I'm surprised that he knew so little about the coin. Just basically that it exsisted, everything else was news to him. It's just still surprising how many people out there have no idea that this stuff even exists. If an IT guy isn't aware, how about John. Q Citizen? What percentage of the population, do you guys think, has a basic, functional view of BtC and how it works? 2%? Maybe less?
I work in IT but I only got interested in December. I heard about Bitcoin back into 2010 but I thought it was just a geeky thing that would phase out. I was going to do some googling about this cyrptocurrency but I was swamp with work and didn't have enough time to learn something new because at the time I was going through my CCNA.
