Original announcement from Lketc (which is part-owner of BW and the probable source of their miners) had "December 2015" buried in it somewhere.

General concensus is that the LK/BW miner will be using Innosilicon A3 chips (tapeout of which was mentioned a few months back), though a few of the BW announcements seem to be implying their own chip design.

This is NO NEW NEWS, it's just an article talking about info that has been available here in at least one other thread that is months old.

You must mean February 2016.  Let us never forget that China shuts down for the month of January for Chinese New Year.  Let us never forget.

CNY holidays start on February 7 (Sunday) this year - probably a few days earlier due to travel for most.

Mining since 2010 & Hosting since 2012
The new 14nm miner is due January 2016 not Q4. BW is already pre-selling B-Eleven hosted mining at less than half the cost of S7 you can read the details here.

Possibly the $/th ratio we have been waiting for.  But yet another preorder for hash with equipment not yet confirmed.
Still we know the chip is coming soon.

So why not say January 2016 instead of the wooliness of 'winter' 2016? Is it taped out yet or are they waiting on preorders to fund the NRE?

If I'm not mistaken, BW is using Innosilicon's 14nm chip, and simply producing miners.  It will be interesting to see when it comes out, but if we've learned nothing else around here it's not to hold your breath waiting for miracles.

That is partially correct but BW/Innosilicon etc actually hire Samsung to design and produce the chips.

I'm surprised no one has picked this up -

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bw-to-launch-nm-chip-and-miner-for-general-population-1445278227

BM plan to make a 14nm chip, all the usual nonsense and weasel words including this from the journalist:

"The quiet, behind-the-scenes juggernaut in bitcoin mining, Bi Wang (BW), is announcing the release of its 14nm chip that the company believes is at the cutting edge of bitcoin mining equipment"

Oh yeah? I believe it isn't so who is right?

This device isn't due until Q4 next year, and they will only sell their miners in batches of 333 pieces, 3TH each at $250 or $0.08 per GH. By the time they arrive the hash rate will likely be over 900 petahashes so I'd love to see their financial projections for this project. For the buyer its not a great deal even with Btc at $300 they are likely to make about $1.8 a day, less electricity costs (about 50 cents a day even at $0.05 per kWh) and you can bet that the hashrate will only go higher once all their pre orders get dumped on the network.

So if you fancy financing their chip and future profit, why not get your (virtual) wallets out?
