On a light note, this is another sign that we are in a bull run.

I remember way back in 2017 wherein there's a lot of PM's, unsolicited ones in my inbox similar to this one. So we really need to be cautious as this criminals are plying around this community once more, and this is a good example.

Back 2017 I also received a lot of PM about ICO back in the time when ICO was a big hype, and you are excited to know the new ICO after the so many scams in ICO I ignored all these newbies that's sending me PM it's part of their marketing they do it here and on telegram.

Scammers can send PMs to invite you to buy their on-sold accounts. Buying accounts are discouraged (see below rule).
18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.
With the hype of market, I think account sellers will wake up and try to sell their accounts. Those accounts can easily be detected by their changes: email changed, password changed, woke-up after long period of inactivity, post gap between some years, suddenly apply to join campaign after those changes appear.

It is when you successfully buy account but during the process, you can be scammed too. Scammers can ask buyers (you) to go first, and they will run with your money while you don't have any account in hands. It is the worst situation but in better situation, your bought account can be useless when detected and painted with red trust.

Report to moderator and ignored. No need to create a thread for this. I also got so many spam PM but since I dont want to waste time, Ive just ignored them.
It's fine. Not all are knowledgeable about this PM scheme and others are not aware.
Yup, like me! Thanks for the warning OP. There's nothing wrong of spreading the news. As long as this thread is not a clone then it's fine I think. Besides, it has a positive effect for us. Reporting such acts right away can save you but raising awareness can save everyone Smiley.

And if recalled correctly*, there's already a user who falls on this via the PM scheme.

Since our moderators are quick in action, scam and spam threads are removed right away so these scammers try to spam PMs instead and don't bother even with the PM restriction.

Thanks for sharing this. Almost all these types of investment schemes are scams and not supposed to be taken into consideration. Things like this should be read by newbies in order not to get victimized by it.

Anyway, I haven't received anything close to that even if I allowed newbies to PM me. Maybe after this post, I will receive one, lol.

Maybe a lot of their spam accounts are quickly getting banned, and they are resorting to PM’s so it wouldn't get reported so quickly.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
I can’t recall ever receiving a PM of the kind, probably because I’ve got the "Allow newbies to send you PMs" setting disabled, so I don’t receive Newbie PMs like the PM sender referenced in the OP (although Copper Members bypass the setting). Not that this type of scam is restricted to Newbies, but scammers do often create accounts just to suit their purpose, and then wither away.

The issue is more relevant when the recipient of the PM is a Newbie (in crypto-knowledge terms, regardless of the rank), since they are the most likely target to get a positive response to the scammers proposal.

The case should be reported by the PM recipients, but its fine to create a little viewable awareness through threads like this one in a while.

That user is supposed to be ban if you report to admins. This is an unsolicited PM either scam or not. Old domain doesn't mean they are trusted. Most likely they continuously scamming peoples. I believe that users have sent a similar PM to other users as well. Can't tag him unless PM verified with moderators/admins. So better to just report.

Anyway, hope other users will get a lesson from this thread.

I don't mind to check if someone I don't know send my PM to promote a website, a project, a bot. I don't click on link for my safety. If I see ref link in PM, it is another thing that warn I should not reply and click on link.

Scam, phishing or malware, I don't mind to check. Check means take risk.

This is just a scam as scam can be. It will be good to neglect such links and glad you know that. The person may want to attack your bitcointalk account, or in one way or the other scam you.

To my surprise, the site is 1year and 2 months old. Any newbie that have already received this PM should discard it.

What happened:: Sign on my account today and I saw a PM notification message from newbie user Gaston Cavalier which says

Hi suzanne,

Say, would you be interested to grow your ETH through investing in a crypto trading investment fund? It's a proper company.

1. The company gives a STOCK GUARANTEE.

2. All its trading accounts are audited on a monthly basis by one of the top auditors in the country. Full transparency.

3. Never had a losing month since its inception at the beginning of 2018.

There's no other crypto trading FUND in the world that does the above. This is a completely legit FUND.

If you would like to go into the details (terms & conditions, investment plan, trading results, etc), just register & sign up for a free account. You can't sign up any other way as it's a closed community, so it's by invi only.

Kindly use this referral code : 44048547

Please bear in mind, that if you do decide to fund the account later, at least a minimum of 2.1 ETH must be deposited.

The extra 0.1 ETH is more than enough to cover the deduction of the transaction fee from your e-wallet to your W-REX investment account.

This will still beat F.D. easily, if you're looking at only a conservative 2% ROI/mth non-compounded. Remember, stock guarantee.

If you have further inquiries, please let me know.

Regards
