You can now simply telnet to:

ticker.bitcointicker.co 10080

Which will give you a basic ticker. If you're on windows you might find it easier to use putty or enable the telnet client in windows and set the term type to vt100:

More experimentations with d3 - Bitstamp live depth, with animated transitions. Needs much more work, but I think the depth animation is better than what's currently on the main page of the site.

I know many visitors to this site come to this section of the forum for their daily speculation needs Smiley

Watch as we rise or fall, live, in all its flashing glory!

http://bitcointicker.co

Kind of reminds me of a Bloomberg Terminal

Hmm, I'll take that as a compliment? Smiley But I think the site could benefit from a complete redesign. The movable and resizeable grids are a step in the right direction though.

Oh it is a compliment meant it reminds me of the kind of trading software intensive traders use to monitor assets that said traders have 7-12 screens not just one lols

Don't see them too much outside of stock trading though
Institutional investors are the typical customers of this product, since the relatively high ongoing cost makes it unfeasible for individual investors with relatively small amounts of capital to purchase.

Awesomely done, man, I love it!

a few suggestions:

1) could you fix the check-box for show news so that it actually doesn't show news when unchecked?
2) Could you please add ASK SUM and BID SUM somewhere? (sorry if it's there and didn't see them.)
3) Could it be possible to resize the console? (either manually re sizable, or with a lines parameter in the options)
4) Could you add a feature to either or both take shots of the current graphs/save them?

Thanks for your hard work, it looks awesome and it works great!

Thank you for the feedback! It is very much appreciated. Glad you like the site. Obviously it is still very much a work in progress, and I am aware it could look much nicer.

As for your questions:

1) The show news checkbox is actually for the overlay on the main graph. For example, if you are viewing the default line graph, and select the 24 hour option, then check the "Show news" checkbox, you will see the red triangles at the bottom. You can then hover over these which gives you a tooltip of the news, and you can also click on them to take you directly to the webpage. However this does not work so well once you get out past 30 days, it appears to be a limitation of the plugin I am using. I can see where the confusion is though, perhaps I can add an option within the options page to hide the news ticker?

2) For sure! I have been meaning to add this. I'm not sure if I can get this added to the main page, it would be nice if the bottom depth graph could be toggled to show this.

3) Do you mean resize the whole screen? So perhaps it fits onto your screen more easily? Or would you like to resize specific parts of the screen, say one of the graphs or trades/order tables?

4) I can certainly look into this. I am using the flot graphing suite. I've just had a look into this and it does appear to be possible with a little jiggery pokery.

Thanks again for your feedback, I think I have enough extras to work on now for the next week or so Smiley

If anyone else has any feedback, or would like anything adding, let me know.

Thanks for your fast reply,

1) Cleared, thanks , yes it confused me, I thought it would toggle the news on/off. An option within options would be perfect ( I like customization)
2) Thank you!
3) I meant resize, the bottom part or footer, where it currently says connected and shows the version is pre-alpha, it just seems to take out a big chunk out of the site just for one line of info (there's a line that separates this "footer" from the rest or maybe it is just my browser displaying things incorrectly [Running on opera 17 over 1680*1200]), however If you could (in the long run) let us resize more sections that would be even better.
4) Awesome!

I've managed to sort out 2), and this has now been released. It does not currently update live however, I will fix this. Currently the data on the server is only generated every hour, I don't think this data changes massively minute to minute.

As you can see, this data only goes back a few days at the moment (when I first put the script live Smiley) but it will build up over time, and eventually I will restrict it to 7 days worth of info. There might be some issues with the accuracy of the data Smiley

I've not forgotten about the other points, I'll look into them asap.

Edit - I'm aware the GBP and EUR mtgox data has gaps, I think I've fixed this going forward.

Could you make it so after you change to the light theme, if you reload the page, it starts on the light theme again rather than defaulting to the dark? Also, the ms value if changed from the default doesnt stick on a reload.

Maybe some sound alerts, or notification (like a Chrome notification maybe? http://developer.chrome.com/extensions/notifications.html) when it hits a certain price or volume threshold?

Other than that i much prefer it over bitcoinity, set as my new home page.

Hello Sir, my apologies, I have only just seen your response. In fact I've just come here to say that the website now has sound alerts. I will look into the notifications, I think that will be useful if you're at work and don't have any sound. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have been meaning to look into setting up cookies so that any changes you make will be saved. I will look into this next.

Unfortunately that project is abandoned.

Also very interested in 24h average images.

Thanks Bernard. I will take a look at that.

As for the current site, I've switched over from mtgox's socketio server to pure websockets, which seems to work a whole lot better.

Very simple ticker, not bad. Don't see why its any more useful than the 100 others already out there...

Yeah that's a fair point. I was impressed with the other tickers out there and was interested in how they worked. It's more of a hobby site where I can work on my jquery skills  Smiley

I've updated the site now so that it will periodically poll for the latest news.

good job man. nice work. +1 for you

oh and love the haters there hate is hurting them not you.

warning tangent: humans are like crabs in a crab net. how? well at the bottom of a dock on the ocean floor all the crabs see a band new fish head and think "free food" or "easy picking" or "get rich quick" (crabs pay with fish heads) but when the net is slowly being pulled up and they are in eminent danger of getting caught, all they would have to do is side walk there way out of the net. but when you pull up the net its full of crabs?? why? why wouldn't they just walk out of the net? its because just as soon as one of them is making it out of the horrible trap the other crabs grab onto them and pull them back down.  and if they try then they will get pulled back into the net. sooooo like humans when one of us try some thing new and succeed all the haters that are still in the net try to bring you back down to there level of misery.  so go ahead and let them try but the truth is every time you get some one being a jerk and hating on what you have made its realy just them saying hey you are now better than me so i better make fun of or tear you down to my level that way i feel better about the shit situation i am in in my life right now.

Bitstamp has been added......

Orders do not update in the same way as mtgox unfortunately. I see no way to timestamp the depth changes in the same way as it is possible with with mtgox's socketio feed. Bitstamp appear to have a depth feed via socketio however I have been unable to get this to work. This is more likely an error on my part.

I'd be interested if anyone has got this to work or knows of a way to poll for depth changes via the api and attach a timestamp to each change.

I've made a few performance improvements over the past few days, the order changes should now be much more fluid. You should now find that if you want to view it on your iphone, you can  Smiley

EUR trades/order have been added after reworking some of the code, should be able to add the other currency pairs at some point.

Can you add the last sale price to change the title. Sometimes I like to keep a eye on it when not on the same tab.

I've sorted this. Just do a CTRL + r and it should load up the new version. Thanks for having a look at the site!

Thank you! It looks great!

nice work...   Another source for the order book is nice... lately clark moody's crashes with every BTC dump (lol not intended).

Though I personally prefer the side-by-side orderbook

It's always an option to create another page for that..... the data is all there.

Problem with stopping it not going into the negative is that it no longer keeps the graph centered, it looks a little weird Smiley
Even when you only do it when it actually goes past 0?
You could also scale the ask side to match the same width, it just would have to have another scale than the bid side.  Zooming out would stop at the bids and just display the asks further up.
What also would work is log scale...

OK, let me look into this  Smiley Really appreciate your feedback.

I like how it doesn't fuck up as much when you zoom out as bitcoinity does.

You can see the slope of the bids all the way to 50 cent.
While you are at it you might wanna make it so that it doesn't go past zero into the negative on the depth chart. Wink
