I regularly explain Bitcoin enthusiastically to newbs. I tend to focus on these:
- Cash for the internet
- Financial freedom as central authorities cannot stop payments or freeze your accounts
- Banks and governments cannot devalue or inflate Bitcoin
- 3-4 years of solid growth in utility, adoption, and price show Bitcoin to be both a good (yet risky) investment and store of value

That's about as simple as it gets and it's easy to make comparisons to cash in regard to anonymity/inflation/divisibility/etc.
