I only have experience with slush's pool, is that a "p2p pool?"

P2Pool is a decentralized Bitcoin mining pool that works by creating a peer-to-peer network of miner nodes.

What about people who mine using the p2p pools?  Those rewards you get show up as "mined" in bitcoin-qt, are those also going to have this issue if spent at Satoshi Dice?

As I understand it the problem only happens for block rewards paid to a public key.  If you use a regular bitcoin address to receive your p2pool block rewards you'll be fine.

To check, look at your reward transaction on blockexplorer.  Here's OP's one that got stuck:
  http://blockexplorer.com/tx/0034295ae014af254d8297ebb0bceca1b1fc09e71fae90b7afa1171f6c10a1fe#o0

Notice the "Type: Pubkey" in the list of outputs.

Compare with a very recent block reward:

It has 'Type: Address" as its output.

If you look at a p2pool block reward you'll see lots of outputs.  Some 'pubkey' and some 'address', depending on how each individual miner has their software set up.  Check that yours says 'Address' and you'll be OK.

everyone in the world should be more like Dooglus!

Aw thanks.  That's a nice thing to say.  Smiley

I thought of a better way to make sure you don't bet directly with a block reward again:

In bitcoin-qt, go to the Help menu, pick 'Debug Window', then go to the Console tab.

Type 'listunspent' and scroll through the outputs looking for any amounts of 50 BTC or slightly over, that could be block rewards.

For each one you find, send that exact amount to yourself.  The wallet should see that the block reward is an exact match for the amount you're sending and use it in your new transaction.  The block reward is big enough and old enough that no fee will be required.  Just make sure to set the fee to 0 in Settings>Options>Main so the client doesn't add on a fee and mess up the coin selection.

Then check 'listunspent' again and check that you no longer have any 50-ish outputs with lots of confirmations.

I found (and replied to) the old post I was remembering in the main satoshidice thread, here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.2095073

Hopefully they'll pay you out soon.  I checked and discovered that whether they got your bet on the 8th or the 9th, you would have won:

http://www.satoshidice.com/secretlist.php says:

2013.05.09 6vHQqQd97ObFMgKCTyZLk8j5Ni0l3JMV7BR14c45GRQC8kYBdI2FCnx9MWW9Uhar

and my satoshidice lucky number checker tells me that both of those secrets make your bet a winner:

* for 2013.05.08 (lucky number 5406)
* for 2013.05.09 (lucky number 32182 - close, but you bet <32768)

Your bet transaction shows that output 1 is the bet to satoshidice (output 0 being the change) so that's the lucky number you need to look at on my pages.

Things have been a bit bumpy with SD's website so I expect he's busy with other things. I am a bit worried to bet further due to this. Would laundering my coins by bouncing them all somewhere else first prevent this from happening to other mined coins?

Yes.  The problem only happens if coins go directly from being mined to satoshi dice.  You don't need to bounce the coins off anywhere, just send them to yourself in a transaction.  If you send your whole wallet balance to one of your own addresses, that would fix the problem (but then we'd be able to see how much you have in total by finding the transaction in the blockchain).  Probably the easiest thing to do is to make a new wallet for satoshidice and send some coins there.  Unless your client software lets you select which coins to spend manually there's always a chance it will decide to spend one of your other mined block rewards.

Thanks for the input. I really did spam those bets, in case that caused it or is relevant at all.

Having looked at the transactions further, I notice that the 4th one is spending a block reward directly to satoshi dice.  I remember that happening in the past and causing problems, so I strongly suspect that that's the issue here too.  I don't think this is going to resolve itself unless you bring it to the site's attention.

In all of your mega stats do you have the win/loss of those "after the secret" assessments vs. the expected? Ha ha! That'd be fodder for the various disgruntled folks in some of the SD threads...  Shocked

I've never generated stats for just the bets which were processed on a different day than they were placed.  It would be interesting to do so to see if there's a bias.  I expect I'd find that there isn't.

but the fourth one does not.

This happens sometimes.  I've no idea why.  It always gets sorted out in the end.  Very rarely it can take up to a week but usually it will fix itself in a day or two.

When I ran my daily check of outstanding bets this morning, I found 3 satoshidice bets that hadn't been processed yet:

0a91ddce746c95e50723906ed934b2fb4bcc5aaf2dd10784055bd4d5715f2e7e
302b89627efdb6a96a00cf6736a753a1864ed7e991d73376a4dcb4fd55660cb0
c5026931c5ff513f3ee60a981585e24f1d9a2df8809f7120ffe2bf6f6b238581

The 3rd one is yours.  The first 2 are both almost a month old, and are both 0.01 BTC bets by the Deepbit pool address, 1VayNert.  So you're pretty much unique at the moment in having a stuck bet.

What sucks is that to determine whether you win or loss they will use the daily secret of the day they process your bet, not the day you sent it.  So they could in theory ignore your bet until the secret of the day makes you lose.
