It’s really disgusting and disappointing how people fall to some sort of scam online now are days, the kind of trust they have for big names is really something else, they trust those big figures more than they can trust their homies at home, people get blindsided by trust that even something that could have appeared too good to be true turns out to be a dream comes true for the because it’s coming from their celebrity influencer which is rubbish.

I can still remember the incident back in 2021 where Elon musk and other VIP’s Twitter account (now known as X) was targeted and hacked and this was used to steal their followers funds from some sort of free giveaway and phishing scam scheme, and this cost users back then a whole lot of funds and yet others are finding it difficult to learn from such kind of mistake which is really disturbing. I don’t know to what extent that things will go that people will start learning from others mistakes and don’t wait until it happens to them directly before they can see it as something that can’t be real. Well i believe most of this form of scam victims are people who are too greedy and is looking for every mean’s possible to double their holdings and take advantage of every given opportunity they see in the internet.

Nothing good comes easy so we need to know what we are getting from what we are doing. I don't don't understand why someone will have to give there seed phrase to a prominent person because they ask them for it. On a normal circumstances, Elon Musk or any of the billions we have will never ask for someone's seed phrase when it's not a scammer. I'm surprised how people fall Victim to celebrity easily without having a rethink of what if the account was hacked no matter the pledge that he tend to offer. Crazy things happens these days and we have to get ourselves prepared.

I am really sorry that many people lost their funds to hackers who hacked vitalik account on Twitter but we need to discuss this, it's for your own good when people on here tell to stop seeking for free stuffs, because if it's free you are the product.

There is no doubt that many people lose their assets to hackers, and the main reason for this is that hackers often hack into the accounts of famous people, after which they leave a message that People get trapped easily. All this happens because of our greed. Hackers take our assets by giving us a free airdrop or some kind of lure.

The best ways to stay safe in crypto space now is to just DCA, stake if you want and enjoy your life, nothing comes easily anymore, there is no free stuffs in the world, those who want to give up free stuffs want something else too.

In fact, DCA is one of the best strategies in the crypto currency market, through which we periodically buy different crypto currencies when the price falls, and can make good profits for the next bull season. DCA is very important in long term investment.

1. Avoid clicking links and claiming freebies online, most especially giveaways on social media.
2. Do not hook up your wallet to websites you don't know.

3. Air drops are not even safe too, most from social media are scam, if you are a Airdrop fan, please dedicated a separate wallet for Airdrops only.

Of course, you should never click on unknown links, and be very wary of anyone offering to give you something for free. Links are often given on social media where you are asked to link your wallet, then if you link your wallet there, hackers can easily steal your assets. Therefore, a lot of caution is needed here. Never connect your wallet to any unknown link or website. Airdrops can also involve fraud, so many people ditch their assets in the airdrop cycle. Therefore, a separate wallet should be kept for it, in which you do not have any assets, so that you do not fear any loss in case of hacking.

So are you telling me that if the real Elon Musk or Vitalik account on Twitter ask you to provide your seed phrase to them for some checkups or freebies you will not think twice? Simply because the request is coming from the real Elon or Vitalik account?
I will never give out my personal details to him or her because I know that Elon or Vitalik will never demand for my seeds phrase because they keep telling us on social media never to believe in any message using the name of the company to demand for any seeds phrase or money from anybody which they will never make such decision to any of their users.

if you look very well, you will discovered that those falling victim to those scammers are lazy people for my personal research, because it's only a lazy person that will be looking for where he or she didn't sow to reap, and it will lead them to loss fund. How can someone will be telling you on social media to send your seeds phrase to confirm something before they can believe you are the owner of the wallet before they can send the coins to your wallet. I don't think there is a free money anywhere in the world my people, and if you don't want to loose your money to hackers don't display your personal details to anybody.

I as a person stay the hell away from every freebies and that includes airdrops too, because even if they are legit the amount isn't going to be much anyway, why waste your time? Hackers are increasing their standards every day, make sure you are increasing yours as well, even Vitalik Buterin and Satoshi himself is not safe, if you get messages from them, even if it's the real them, and they ask for your key, my brother and sisters RUN.

Free things in the cryptocurency industry are so old school as they're not worth our time anymore because majority are just worth nothing. Airdrop that are worth participating in doesn't demand you to like or retweet their post on twitter or other platforms. Those projects now demand their product to be tested by you and give them feedback so they can work on improving their product. Airdrop that are worth participating in now demand you be among their first adopters and make use of their platforms through testnet or mainnet. If the airdrops aren't in this form then they're as good as nothing and  a total waste of your time. The only time airdrop were worth something was back in 2016/2017 during the bull market that projects where looking for means to make their projects more popular.

So are you telling me that if the real Elon Musk or Vitalik account on Twitter ask you to provide your seed phrase to them for some checkups or freebies you will not think twice? Simply because the request is coming from the real Elon or Vitalik account?

Those affected by this types of scams are the greedy people that are thinking the industry is a get rich quick scheme because they made some profits with beem lucky on some investment that they made profits from without knowing they could have lost everything because those projects didn't even last in the market. Also those that aren't rightful informed (newbies joining the industry without a mentor or getting the right information on the security of the wallet, investment etc). This type of scams has been happening for sometime now so anybody that's up to date with what's happening on the industry should be aware of this type of scams. People should learn to stay up to date and they won't be victim in the future.

I mean this is just pretty common these days because there are already a lot of hackers and scammers online that really want to get some money from people or investors so they are really desperate making every possible move just to get one victim. I mean for sure there are a lot of people and investors that get caught in this kind of work, and for sure they are getting scammed because these people still continue to do this kind of thing because they are still earning on this dirty work, for sure if they are not earning anymore, or they didn't scam a single people they are going to stop doing this already.

So for sure, there was no work around it What we really need is just to learn about this kind of thing because if we know what they are doing we can easily protect ourselves from this scammer and they can't do anything for us if we have knowledge about it. It doesn't really matter if it's Elon Musk or it's some famous person out there First of all they for sure not going to message you at all, as well as you should not give your seed phrase to anyone.

People need to wake the hell up, Vitalik created Ethereum, and because of this he won't dare ask me to provide my seed phrase, hell NO,  what the hell is wrong with people?

Vitalik Buterin has revealed how his account was hacked through a sim swap, a mistake he must have done maybe through  a kyc process in signing up on X formerly twitter.

This is why KYC is discouraged and frowned at because of the risk it can put you, exposing your data to any successful phishing attacks on these centralized companies or exchanges.

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin took to social media to share details about the hacking of his profile on X, formerly Twitter. The influential crypto figure confirmed suspicions that the account was targeted in a SIM swap attack allowing perpetrators to promote a crypto scam enticing victims with free digital collectibles.

Apart from the fact that it's hackers at play here, even if the real people ask for your private key you will give them? It seems many people don't even understand crypto.
This reminds me of someone I tutored a few years ago. In one our classes I told him on no account should he release his passphrase or password to anyone, including me. Few days later, I tested him and asked him to release the passphrase to me. He refused. I told him I wanted to check for something. Guess what? He released it. I told him he just messed up. I was his tutor and I let him know he shouldn't do that. Then I wonder how those who release theirs to random strangers reason.

Let's use the forum for instance. If I eventually recieve a message from theymos for my private key. I'll assume he was referring to my address because I don't have it on my profile, I will send him my address and sit back to see how much will be paid into it Grin

It's amazing how different the information is here on the forum and on social networks. People on social networks are zombies; what the crowd does is force every greedy individual user to be tempted and rush to not miss the train.
You have been in this forum for many years before I registered as a newbie. From my newbie days till today, I can say that I am 10x wiser than I used to be before joining this forum. If I should claim x10 wiser, you should be x50 wiser. No matter how intelligent people on social media may pose to be, not many of them are wise. There is a special kind of exposure this forum gives that they lack.

It is like giving your vault keys to someone who is popular but doesn't make sense right?

Why do we need to give our keys to someone else, That is the purpose of our decentralization which is to be your own bank so if anything goes wrong then it can only be possible if we make mistakes.

I remember the famous incident that happened on a Twitter platform which is about messages coming from verified profiles of rich people from Bill Gates, Elon, and hundreds of others asking you to send BTC to an address and mentioning they will double the funds back in the next few hours and actually people fell for it cause it's coming from verified profits and they thought rich people may feel generous today.

But in the end, it's coming from hackers who entirely hacked the Twitter platform.

This may look very ridiculous but people fall for this scam almost every day. It's just wild out there. Sometimes I try to understand their thought process, I try to understand what anybody at all, talk more figures like Elon Musk and celebrities will want with their seed phase. I guess it's just naivety. That's the only explanation I can come up with. Some people say greed, but I don't think greed alone will do because no matter how greedy a person is he won't fall for such scams if he understands what it means.

Even banks tell their customers that they will never ask them for their login details or card details. So why would anybody think a different person altogether asking for your seed phase or log in details to bank accounts and so on is fine? That kind of scam is too cheap for people to fall so easily.

Sometimes hackers hack the accounts of these influential people and ask their followers to send a certain amount of Bitcoin to their wallets so it can be double back to them. That's just insane. Anybody at all that asked you for that, be it Bitcoin or any other currency is a scammer.
We need to learn.

Private keys though.... you can easily spot a base58 WIF so it should be quite easy to block all base58 sequences, since overwhelmingly, they are for storing addresses and private keys. I mean, Twitter (when it was still called that) did just that a few years ago but only for addresses, but it's keys that need to be censored here.

As theymos wrote in another topic: you can't help everyone if they're that naive. I've only once seen someone post funded private keys, but I've seen many more posts that contain a private key for valid reasons. Split-key vanity address creation for instance. Let's not start censoring those.

No really, don't! People fall for anything.
Too many people are too naive to be their own bank.

In all seriousness though, there isn't a conceivable way to detect what words are seed phrases or not, because you can use any wordlist you want and the algorithm would be fooled easily.

It always surprises me when someone gets scammed due to hunting for free stuff online, and most of these things are due to greed if not someone who wants to help you will not respect your privacy. If you check it well, you will know that Elon Musk won't ask for your seed phrase, and even if someone claims to do that, at least one has to think well first because scammers are everywhere now, and why Elon Musk would even request it is what is supposed to come to their mind, but these people are blind; the only thing they see are these freebies that they promise to give them or that they can claim without putting in their funds. Or efforts  Seriously, I’m in the place where anything I see online about crypto I don’t believe until I DYOR or come in to the forum and confirm if it was to scam people, and from there someone will know.

Why most people forget that someone who has access to your private key is 100% in control of that account , once Bitcoin or any Cryptocurrency is widrawn from such account it is irreversible, do most people think before making decision, some times we need to apply wisdom.
I do not need to become a victim before knowing how to secure my funds, it's kind of frustrating losing my investment.
I also believe sharing this Forum to other Crypto holders is necessary, let them come and secure more knowledge from here, it has helped many already including me

Internet scammer are getting sophisticated day by day with their online scams.
The other day, a friend of my was sent a message on Facebook, immediately she clicked the link sent, her Facebook log in details where changed. She couldn't access her account anymore. The next day, the person that hacked the account started asking for money from her friends on her Facebook account, this is a habit she doesn't indulge in.

So everybody should be mindful of scammers especially on social media, It will save you greatly for being cautious.

Why would Satoshi or Elon musk be requesting for my private keys I think that should be the first question that will pop from my head for me to quickly code that it's all coming from a scam attempt. How much coins do I even own that will be sufficient for these personalities that of all people in the universe I am the one they're chose to request for my private key through a PM.
Generally, they would never ask for such confidential things because to my knowledge they had not asked till now. But after the Twitter account of Vitalik got hacked and then hackers posted a tweet in which they shared a link to connect their wallet to in order to gain some NFT and those who attached their wallets to that link got hacked. And till now, according to news people have lost almost $691,000.

When we also do take time to question ourselves about these categories of messages if received I think it will quick send a signal to us that this is scam in daylight so run. Even in Freetown there are no free things and athe vast scam attempts that has been successful were mainly those done on people who take liken to free things on the crypto space like airdrops,
virtual  mining and multiplers, ponzi scheme etc.
You have made valid statements but still, people fall for this scam because they did not know it was not the Vitalik behind this post. If they knew the author of this post was not Vitalik then they might not act on his post. I hope the hacker will come to an end and will face punishment once he gets caught. But till then, we all can and should ignore such types of following and reacting upon such CTA post that requires us to attach our wallets or send some money.

The first thing that if I even have to do or think is, I will make a new wallet address to link it to that wallet from where I can get the NFT but those who connected the main wallet are the ones who definitely did not see it coming. People really should think before doing anything that would make them stupid. We call it FOMO because in FOMO people forget to think for another second and act fast.

Only naive people will fall into this trap.  No matter who asks me about the seed phrase that holds my fund, I won't give it to them.  Or let us say they are legit people asking for my seed phrase for them to check for errors, I would create a new wallet and give the seed phrase of that empty wallet to them.  Since it comes from the same application, there is no difference between the one that has holdings of my fund.

I did not really knew that Twitter account of Vitalik has been hacked and it leads to the stolen of $691K dollars. I don't even follow him but that's really sad. I feel sorry for those who lost funds. Your suggestion are really valid but dear OP try to look this from an eye of a Airdrop Hunter who have made hell lot of money out of such adventures. People used to take risk with the money they have earned from the same type of adventures.

People do knew the risks involved but still they should have stop themselves from falling for this shit. I mean it is easy to say but I can feel the FOMO which must have created among those who became victim to this hack. I have seen people sending money to CEO and other influencer's account and they are sending hell lot of money just because the author said something about Airdrop and shared a wallet address too.

Then how those people could stop themselves from sending money to Real Vitalik's address while they knew him. I really amazed to see people to today generation still fall for such shit. The hacker must be chilling and making fun of the victims. But I do not want to stretch this thing out more and I came to agree with you on the fact that we should not send our assets to anyone and not even think of giving our key to someone even not to our loved ones. Because directly or indirectly hackers could get to them.

Elon musk and /or Vitalik or anyone at all doesn't have the right to ask you to send your seed phrase, your seed phrase is meant to be super private and anyone demanding it definitely has some shady motives, crypto-currency is transparent so with just your address they can view the wallet but demanding seed phrase is going to far.

Also their are hackers that can and in history has hacked the account of reputable people and deceived many into sending them funds so it's not wise giving out your private details.

Even if all the rich people out there in world gathered around in a circle to claim that they will put free BTC in my own seed phrase, I ain't going to bite even if it was a legitimate one. I would be more curious to how they got my deets so that they can contact me, although I would already assume this is the usual method by scammers in gathering raw contact information for cold emails/calls/messages just to bait the crap out of them.

If possible as well, just use a separate wallet that would be entirely for "utilized purposes" not for hodling. I do have separate wallet for hodling and many others for "utility" where active transactions come by.

Airdrops are kinda 80/20 for me especially when back in the days, one project in here claimed to have partnership with MEW that was just attempting to phish me. I couldn't keep track of the airdrops I joined back around 2018, so I cannot say which is which.

Yeah, I am using a hardware wallet to hold assets for the long term and I also have a wallet that I use for everyday transactions. Precaution is good and we all should take it. The area of airdrop is a bit different now than before. Now users need to do a lot of tasks and use their funds to be eligible for an airdrop. It is not easy nowadays so people don't fall for those free few hundred dollars worth of tokens anymore. But when they saw a potential airdrop project made an announcement about the airdrop that why were working for they could not resist themself not to clicking the link because of the hard work they had done to get it. They don't think twice because of FOMO. But we should be cautious because we have see how official discord and twitter can be hacked easily and promote fake link by the scammers.

yes I will give him 9 words and then ask to find theee words by self  Wink . You are talking about twitter, If Vitalik or Elon comes to my village and show me the ID card, I will not give him even phrase of empty wallet. I don't care who is asking but will reject without thinking twice.

I as a person stay the hell away from every freebies and that includes airdrops too, because even if they are legit the amount isn't going to be much anyway, why waste your time?

Airdrops are not waste of time, the problem is with research and strategy. I agree that we should not connect wallet blindly and should do proper research even if claim site shared by big name like Elon, CEO Binance or Vitalik. we should use second empty wallet first to check and also don't need to rush for claiming airdrop because claiming time always more then month so ee me should wait for people review.

Airdrop gives big profit too and it's not true that payment is low. If you joined Arbitrum speculation airdrop than many users Recieved 2k$ airdrop just by doing some transaction in their mainnet while 10k$ was high reward claimed by users and that's was totally free. similarly Aptos 1k$ and sui sale profit 2000$. you cannot say low to these amounts but we should research what project is worth to join.

People need to wake the hell up, Vitalik created Ethereum, and because of this, he won't dare ask me to provide my seed phrase, hell NO,  what the hell is wrong with people?

Apart from the fact that it's hackers at play here, even if the real people ask for your private key you will give them? It seems many people don't even understand crypto.

Satoshi can not wake up today on the forum and send me a message to provide my Bitcoin wallet key, I will tell him to fu*k off, because this is the right way to protect my fund.

I am sorry that many people lost their funds to hackers who hacked Vitalik's account on Twitter but we need to discuss this, It's for your good when people on here tell you to stop seeking free stuff because if it's free you are the product.

The best way to stay safe in the crypto space now is to just DCA, stake if you want, and enjoy your life, Nothing comes easily anymore, there is no free stuff in the world, and those who want to give up free stuff want something else too.

1. Avoid clicking links and claiming freebies online, most especially giveaways on social media.
2. Do not hook up your wallet to websites you don't know.

3. Airdrops are not even safe too, most from social media are scams, If you are an Airdrop fan, please dedicate a separate wallet for Airdrops only.

I as a person stay the hell away from every freebie and that includes airdrops too, because even if they are legit the amount isn't going to be much anyway, Why waste your time? Hackers are increasing their standards every day, so make sure you are increasing yours as well, Even Vitalik Buterin and Satoshi himself are not safe, if you get messages from them, even if it's the real them, and they ask for your key, my brother and sisters RUN.
We should be vigilant when it comes to Bitcoin and our wallets. Even though you chatted with Satoshi and he asked you to send your wallet seed phrase know that is a scam because Satoshi "will never ask you for your wallet seed phrase", If Satoshi wants to help you with some Bitcoin he will not be requesting for your wallet seed phrase but he will ask you to send your Bitcoin address. Please let's protect our Bitcoin wallet the same way we protect our traditional wallet.

Don't trust anybody on the internet,if you can keep to that rule, you wouldn't fall for this cheap game. Seed phrase and private keys are personal and not to be disclosed to anyone. Only newbies that don't know about seed phrase and private keys will fall for such trap. A greedy fellow will also fall for such because he would forget himself due to his greed has eaten him up and he wants everything free.

I could remember sometime ago here in the forum, that a newbie posted in service, saying that people should paste their seed phrase on a site that he manages for a service or so,and the moment DT members saw it, instantly he was given a negative tag. Scammers can hack into people accounts that you know very well and the scammer will use this person account to ask for funds or ask for seedphrase and private keys, promising to send you funds. My friend Facebook was hacked and the scammers used his account to get funds from his uncle. After this happened, I hardly use social media.

Come to realize that this people can never make such demands, a good and reasonable person will always know that such cannot come from people of high calibre like them, these are the little shady ways scammers get their victims as prey when they are not reasoning as a pro, this is the highest impossible request they could ever made, but some newbies would still fall a victim because they never know an account can be hacked or impersonated.

People need to wake the hell up, Vitalik created Ethereum, and because of this he won't dare ask me to provide my seed phrase, hell NO,  what the hell is wrong with people?

nothing more than ignorance.

A lot of influential twitter accounts get compromised easily and such accounts have loyal followers, regardless of their knowledge they can fall for any information shared on the account. A smart person would believe Vitalik shared the post, but going through the site or link can think twice about it. Such people as vitalik have no reason to ask for people's private keys. I've been long gone on twitter, but one thing always changes about my thought on a tweet especially, when I have a double mind that the tweet made is not meant to come from the owner of the account. These victims always think that their favorite's twitter account can't get hacked. And they don't pay attention to tweets. The traffic on such account is many and not everybody there is expected to be wise enough to understand when things get wrong. Quite an unfortunate situation.

It will be strange to randomly receive a message from a billionaire asking for your private information. Only a fool or a greedy person will fall for such lies because it does not make sense in the first place. What makes you so special that your private key will be demanded out of all the other number of cryptocurrency users? why will someone who clearly has more than you do ask for such a thing? It does not make sense, too random to be true, it must be a big lie! I try not to trust anybody online so much; I believe anything is possible and you may never know when they get impersonated.

I don't have to think even once because I deleted my account on that platform, and all those who think that they will be blessed with something if they follow some celebrities sooner or later feel what it's like when naivety and ignorance come together.

Apart from the fact that it's hackers at play here, even if the real people ask for your private key you will give them? It seems many people don't even understand crypto.

Most people don't even understand Bitcoin, let alone what some call crypto, which is actually a real jungle where there are no rules. All these social networks, regardless of what they are called, are a real hacker's paradise. And when you go to the jungle, you have to prepare properly, most people go there as if they were going to a picnic by the lake.

Satoshi can not wake up today on the forum and send me message to provide my bitcoin wallet key, I will tell him to fu*k off, because this is the right way to protect my fund.

Theoretically, he can wake up by signing a message from one of his early addresses and then request that his account be unblocked. His account was already hacked in 2011, but I'm not sure if the hacker sent any messages. But if by any chance Satoshi sends you a PM, definitely don't get confused and tell him that when he already has a million BTC why is he asking you for your seed Wink

The best ways to stay safe in crypto space now is to just DCA, stake if you want and enjoy your life, nothing comes easily anymore, there is no free stuffs in the world, those who want to give up free stuffs want something else too.

Look, if you know what you're doing, you can be on any platform and nothing will happen to you, no matter how many tempting offers you receive every day. It's true that a free lunch is something that you can rarely get these days, but a few years ago someone gave away a few BTC to various charities on the forum, so miracles do sometimes happen.

Yeah, well, and if Vitalik is hacked, with all the knowledge and security measures he will have, are you surprised that people with much less knowledge are fooled?

Fortunately, those of us who have been doing this for some time have seen so many scams or attempts at scams that we have been scammed and at the slightest distrust is aroused, but unfortunately not everyone is like that, and the scammers are based on large numbers, because only if a small percentage of a large sample is successful, it is profitable for them.

People are accustomed to trusting a third party with regard to our money. Often times, the bank contacts people asking them to reconfirm their data or to visit the nearest branch. We also ask the bank employees about our balance and submit a form to solve problems. The branch manager is the good person who solves all these problems. with the same understanding, some will think. Vitalik is a famous person, he is reliable, he does not need my money, he is a good person.
Cryptocurrencies transfer ownership from a third party to you and not knowing this may lead to losing your investments, but I understand why beginners fall to such scam.

Stake, stake in bitcoin… perhaps your not referring to bitcoin while talking about stake but with it as the only currency I purchase often, stake isn’t much of an option and I wouldn’t feel any sense of safety having to let some organization or exchange be in charge of my precious bitcoins.
Altcoins maybe but, I wouldn’t advise it for anyone.

The earlier people know that stupidity is a punishable offense within the cryptospace, the better for them to wake up to the reality of things in our current dispensation.

Just how do you link or connect your account or wallet of value to just anything you’re presented with out there! It depends matter whom or what company is making the offer.

You first of all think of the worst that could happen, get the measure of it if it’s a bearable situation at your end (if not, sort out for precautions) and you might end up saving yourself a lot of trouble.

There isn’t any much freebies in our world today and hope this opens the eyes of investors and prospective investors out there to these realities.

No really, don't! People fall for anything.
Too many people are too naive to be their own bank.

Are you serious? Shocked

Let's take a try. Here is mine: (Edited: hey, what the hell with you?) Cheesy

It is well known that humans tend to believe what we want to believe, and there is often somebody looking forward to take advantage of situations like these. We all know the phishing attempts in social media asking for cryptos.

P.S.: If Satoshi went back to the forum ever, and asked me my phrase(s), he would be testing me. I don't think he liked those who blindly followed an authority just for the sake of being an authority.

A novice is the person that will quickly rash and give out its seed phrase, you are not supposed to expose your seed phrase because whatever that is your wallet is been deposited by you, not by any other person either Elon musk or not, a wallet seed phrase is a personal security in which if the seed phrase get exposed all the coins in your wallet is not safe and it can be easily be transferred from one place to another place without your awareness, so let us say that the seed phrase is intact and its your protection.

I don't know if people don't read and understand anymore. When creating the wallet there is always a warning message never to disclose your seed phrase to anyone, so why would you give it out? Because the scammer claims to be Satoshi... That's dumb.

It is a pity that some persons fell for the bait. It was so convincing seeing the link coming from the verified account of Vitalik Buterin and they thought it was genuine, not knowing the account has been hacked and it was a phishing link. Following the hack, I could say that some of the victims are beginners, they are unaware of most of the security tips while some are just stupid and greedy like the victim that lost 2 Cyberpunk NFTs.

The official Twitter (X) account belonging to Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin has reportedly been hacked, according to latest reports. Hackers are said to have dropped a harmful weblink in a new tweet, reports said, in what appears to be a phishing attack.
https://coingape.com/vitalik-buterin-twitter-account-hacked/

Multiple security firms stated that the attack likely involved a phishing tactic. According to them, the individual was lured into authorizing malicious transactions from their Ethereum wallet, through a phishing link.

Security experts have always warned that humans are the most vulnerable link in any security system.
Some users are not literate enough to know all the potential threats. Fraudsters often use social engineering techniques to force the user to perform an action, as a result of which the scammer will gain access to cryptocurrencies

It's amazing how different the information is here on the forum and on social networks. People on social networks are zombies; what the crowd does is force every greedy individual user to be tempted and rush to not miss the train.
It seems that those who hang out on social networks are completely deprived of time to think. It would seem that news gets there faster, but at the same time, it is on social networks that we see so many stupid things that people have done.
I created accounts there for fun, but I was never who I am.
It’s interesting how many people have ever collected various goodies from free giveaways and where so many naive people come from who are still waiting for freebies to this day.

Im not sure if you gonna pullee others from staying away from airdrops. Thats gonna be tough since plenty of old member here got earned from previous drops and wont listen to you. Its part of them and we kne2 how risky it is. Its always depend on yourself how would you protect yourself from such breach or potential hack. You can discourage newbies but you could never let some who experience to earn good profit from airdrops woulndt stop that.

If Satoshi wants to do giveaway and able to sign a message with one of the old bitcoin address, I will go for it. But it would be that we should only provide bitcoin address. If it is getting to I should pay, that is a scam.

We just have to remember that figures like Elon Musk, Vitalik Buterin, or Satoshi Nakamoto would never request your private keys or seed phrases. Any such request should raise immediate red flags, as they're typically scams or phishing attempts. Alot of people falls for such petty tricks and forget the fact that just because they were blinded by greed. These days, social media has turned into a market where scammers fish for possible targets. They use all kinds of means and more ideas pops out daily. They won't stop there.
The only possible thing we can do is to be vigilant and stay away from any thing that looks too good to be true, because it isn't.
