Hi newbies, i want to advise you guys to always try to check out scam accusation thread because it can actually help you on your journey, while you are busy searching for good new projects some have already managed to tag them as scam projects with good evidence, this will definitely helps alot since many are still learning how to detect fake projects, here you go

Probably one of the most important section on this forum if you are a bounty hunter and investors, it doesn't have many comments but those views are high enough to prove that this section is very important, once a project is posted here it will have a hard time getting trust from investors, I wonder what would happen to us if we don't have members who takes time to expose this scam projects, it's going to be really hard.

Newbie are really stupid when they plunge into fraud projects without even knowing it. They only look at the virtual ICO reviews that the project bought with money.

You think this newbies care about that?
Most will even go ahead to sign up for bounty managed by a tagged account. These bounty hunters have the power to run multiple bounties and they are sure either way or the other, one is going to pay.

Mostly, people who are into investing in different coins should check those things. Scam accusation board is somewhat a specialized place to check because you might be bombarded by new things or some familiar projects that could help others out by informing about that accusation. It's best to keep in mind that scam accusations are "accusations". It's still best to do more intensive research rather than relying on the thread themselves.

So if there are references on the accusations, read them. If they have no reference, better keep reading other materials/articles. Sometimes the best thing is to check more about that certain project. Don't rush into conclusions just yet. That's just my opinion.

Imo my opinion newbies can mostly ignore any other project. The only project that newbies should invest is Bitcoin

The risk of losing money is too high, even in bitcon. Those other projects are way too risky, most of them scams (even coin in top100cmc)

Newbies should learn first before jumping into any project I say. Though BTC is old and scam free still playing with BTC is not easy. Newbies lose money, mainly because they start with heavy capital and invest in projects that looks attractive but are scam in reality.
One should really need to know what they are up to before making any decisions. We need to know differentiate our knowledge into what we need to do. As not all we know in that project may really be that happening. That's why learning to trade or invest is a process before applications should take.

searching for good new projects some have already managed to tag them as scam projects with good evidence,

it depends on what you mean by "project" assuming you are using the common meaning that is "altcoins" then i'm afraid the scam accusation board is not going to help you in 99% of the cases since people usually open a scam accusation against a business, service or a person that is conducting them on the forum. for example an exchange that is scamming people.
but users rarely bother creating a new scam accusation when there is a scam altcoin since if they did, that board would have been flooded with thousands of topics repeating the same thing for a different name! not to mention that the bigger problem with altcoins is them being garbage. so even if it weren't an obvious scam, being garbage means you shouldn't waste your time on them. again that board won't help you.

Google is your best friend. All it takes is just a few seconds and you'll probably save yourself even quicker.
Well i would not recommend google at all because of the high chance that the contents that will appear in your search is a fake one or sites that will just scam you. It is our money that we will invest so we need to be extra careful about joining ICO. You should exert time and effort in choosing the right ICO so that we can research about that certain ICO project more and will not regret doing it in the future.

Ngl, with the internet above everyone of us, People should be able to basically get the answer to most of the general questions that they have regarding literally everything. There are a lot of discussions made on the internet and a lot of youtube videos that explain a variety of things, just hit google and look it up! Plus, A lot of people have already said, ICO projects are a thing of the past already. Move on to investing and trading instead, at the very least, you can ensure that any losses would be your fault, and not because of you being stupidly scammed for the nth time.

For newbies the most important thing to do improve your learning skills. It is always good to have some knowledge before investing in any coin or any project. If you are joining any ICO then do your complete research about the ICO whether it is worth it or not.

For new ICO projects google can only give you information provided by scammers, it will be very difficult for you to find the bad news of new and active ICO projects. Most ICO review websites are junk and people pay for a 5-star rating, while free sites are rated by ICOs with poor expertise.
In my opinion we should not invest in ICOs at this time, if anyone intends to invest in ICOs, always make your own reports when making decisions.

Don't use google for researching related cryptos because mostly you will get scam sites and reviews about a new projects which are completely done with money alone. For the real research we have to use the discussion section where people actually interacts with each other for that bitcointalk or reddit will be best option.

Really many many fake scammer site are viewed first page on google so i agree with you every time not trust on google but it may be help learning datails. bitcointalk are right but if have not know specific keyword so used google for find what you need.
Google will indeed direct to several references depending on how high the SEO rankings of sites that have reviewed the project. You only need to add more specific keywords to get valid references (the sites that you think are the most trusted) in Google search.
E.g,
Code:
bitcointalk: coinsbit scam

I have seen a similar topic like this in the Altcoin section, newbies should not only go to the scam accusation board to check if the project they are planning on investing in has been reported or tagged, that's just one percent of the work to be done, TBH the scam projects are even more than the legitimate ones, which makes the work to be done even more difficult.

If you can do without investing in ICO's, then the best advice is, don't invest at all, but if you enjoy the risk of trying to choose one good project, when 99% of them are scam, then it's your call.

A good reference for newbies but unfortunately, the majority of them will not even bother to read any good references thread here until they got scammed. Didn't even bother to hit their favorite search engine for finding some reviews.

Anyways, what if there's no reference thread? Those newbies should understand the basic rule of thumb that always do research before throwing away their precious money. Maybe it's really difficult to spot a scam project but at least, they must know those factors to consider when choosing or just don't participate at all if they aren't sure what's going.

In most cases, people will really just learn the lesson after they got caught on the trap.

Your topic's title states that you should do your own investigation and research but in OP you are only suggesting to rely on what's been posted on the Scam Accusations board!
Unfortunately, DTs and scam busters (are volunteers) can't detect all scam projets.
However, topics on that board can be very helpful for anyone who wants to learn how to do it by themselves and the proper tools that can be used.

I made this thread sometime back on how best to protect you capital and it contains some helpful tips for newbies: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51977684
The thread is currently locked but you always do more research if you have any questions or ask on this thread.
Looking up a project for scam link is very essential for new projects, but if you view every project as a potential scam you would act in a way to protect your investment.

Also understand that, the fact the project you pick interest in hasn't been red flagged as scam on the forum, doesn't automatically gaurantee the authenticity of the projects. The signs used by ICO scam bursters can easily by bypass by scamners that put some time into disguising themselves to avoid the radar of this scam bursters. Instead of using fake image as team members they could avoid updating the team members or not Plagiarized an already existing project's whitepaper, etc.

Preferable you should avoid investing in any ICOs since it's unprofitability resulting to 99.9% of them, all falling. IEOs on the other hand, aren't even safer, investing through any of the crowdfunding system, only enrich project developers.

That's just half the work you need to do before you even commit on investing some money in a ICO project. You should remember that aside from doing background research regarding if the team is legit or not you should also need to know if the project is really going forward with their plans and if they are really dedicated to the things they set for the project. This is where you will know if your money is really worth it for them or is it the right time to jump out due to the signs that it will turn out bad in the future.
