Nothing will protect anyone if they can see that someone from NY state is involved. It's basically going to be impossible to operate in the US if these regulations go through as proposed. Even having users sign a form saying their not from NY is probably not going to be enough.

Local bit coins?

P2P exchange is the best way to go in any state whether they have draconian regulations or not.

Apparently all escrow services are now forced to have all your ID data-- because ID theft and nanny state. Some in the cryptocurrency space are developing decentralized exchanges like openbazaar, but I keep hearing that the escrow service is centralized and so vulnerable to Lawsky's goons. What do you think?

Openbazaar and Darkmarket do not have centralized escrow but decentralized escrow. You pick the arbitrator from a pool and use multisig to secure the funds.

I don't think that the New York regulations apply to escrow services but rather exchanges and companies like bit pay that process bitcoin transactions on behalf of merchants

Really guys, come on, can't this shit turd for brains Lawsky guy be argued against or is he just gonna start IDing everyone for the NSA, and smelling all the dogecoin poop in reddit changetip to report it to the IRS and let credit card ID theft have a new sunrise? How does one lobby in the US? Maybe we can all host the escrow service somehow like torrents... I'm not seeing much complaints apart from helpless reddit threads and a few blogs here and there.

This is a perfect example showing how you can drive business from your state.  :-)
