When I do a new project that helps crypto community, is it good to integrate blockchain in it or is it better to make it helpful but not blockchain dependent?
That depends on the crowd you are targeting. You can pretty much develop everything with the use of blockchain. For instance a Cab booking app based on blockchain. It doesn't really matter as long as it serves the purpose.
But yes, blokchain is the future,if you have a project which needs more transparency and stuff, establishing it on the blockchain will be your priority.

Sure you can develop everything with blockchain.

But the more important question here is whether that thing you're trying to build actually even needs a blockchain in the first place? Does it work better with a blockchain? Contrary to (popular) belief, blockchains are NOT technological miracles and cannot be applied to every single thing.

Would appreciate if you share more about what your "new project" entails to give you a more concise answer. But that aside, generally, I think the answer is to not "try too hard" to mix your product + blockchain , but to do something that makes technological sense.

That is exactly why I am asking this question. I have to choose my "degree project" and I want it to be fintech related and I really like crypto so I just want to see use-cases where these technologies work well together.

What degree are you completing ? You mean like writing a thesis, or doing -- what kind of project?

I could discuss this further and give you some ideas that I have.. been in the crypto space since 2013.

Feel free to PM me or share more here about what ideas you currently have in mind.

As it is getting clear what I would like to do as a degree project, it surely will be a multi-user system and need a licensing system. Do you know any example where user authentication or licensing happens via blockchain? I know EMC, for instance, has such features, but I need an actual project where it is implemented and I can ask the developers why they chose this method.

The main advantage of blockchain tech is decentralization and currently most of the service depend upon centralized server so integrating blockchain tech will insure any service to run 24x7 and in decetralized environment so that nobody can control or manipulate any process within the system. So i  think integrating blockchain tech have lot more benefits than we can imagine.

Not for Our big surprise, many software here provides features for blockchain related platforms.

But do they integrate blockchain as well? Like storing data in a blockchain.

When I do a new project that helps crypto community, is it good to integrate blockchain in it or is it better to make it helpful but not blockchain dependent?

I think that really depends on WHAT your use case is. Like you pointed out, not all software integrate well with blockchains, and could be better of just being an old school 'database'.
