The fake and scams will never go away and I don't think it's best enough for Youtube management to ban crypto related channels because there are other things that scammers use to deceive others aside crypto. They should find a better way of getting all those scam accounts blocked other than generalizing it all together. that will make it difficult for crypto starters to learn from their creators.

I mean I got an ad on some exchange on youtube w/ Baldwin or some
It also depend on content. yt blocks any literally any sight of scams

You just nailed this in my opinion. As you have said, there are still thousands of YouTube's videos around the platform so, in my opinion, the videos they look out for are the ones that actually violated their terms and regulations and not just all the YouTube videos.

With your analysis, even a friend of mine has been creative about cryptocurrency videos on  YouTube and none of his videos got deleted. So, those videos targeting to scam gullible are likely to be deleted from the platform.

According to this article, YouTube continues to ban crypto content; No one knows the reason!. Last December they ban a lot of 'legitimate crypto website'. But lately though, we have seen hundreds if not thousands of fake giveways, and with the Covid-19 pandemic, perhaps there are more crypto related scams appearing on Youtube.

I agree with the ban of crpyto related scams, and they should focus on it. However, if some legit channels are going to be affected, then they have to look at their process of banning, just saying.
I thought those bans were a mistake. Faulty algorithm which marked them as a scam and got automatically deleted. As far as I know, those bans were reversed and a rollback was made were the contents were recovered with proper stats.
You sure they still banning those contents? I haven't heard anyone complain about it yet anywhere and I do still find contents related to crypto currencies from time to time.

I think that Google is against anything crypto related, since it could affect its business. Blockchain technology provides freedom to the people, which goes against the belief of worldwide conglomerates. While Google could justify its actions by eliminating scams or fraud, we know deep inside the companies' intentions to harm the growth of the crypto/Blockchain industry in general. That's the reason why YouTube continues to ban crypto content in its platform. It's best that we switch to another service which focuses on decentralization above anything else. DTube is a great alternative to the existent YouTube video hosting service, which gives the power back to content creators.

I guess that most crypto enthusiasts continue to use YouTube to host their videos because it's a popular platform in the mainstream world. Switching to another video hosting service might not seem to be a good idea since they have a small amount of users supporting them. Maybe with enough pressure from the crypto community, Google's YouTube video hosting service would change its stance towards everything crypto related? With or without YouTube, the crypto industry could stand strong in desperate times like the ones we're facing right now. There are many alternatives from existent services right now, which gives anyone the choice to support one platform from another. As long as crypto remains decentralized, it'll be a force to reckon with. Just my opinion Smiley

Maybe. Once Dtube is advertised on youtube by the blockchain influencers, the popularity may hurt their business. There is more freedom to projects in the cryptocurrency unlike with google.

They are not thoroughly banning all cryptorelated channels as we can see there are analyst there who are still very much active providing their forecast. So most likely its just those reported channels that has contents that can potentially scam thats taken down.

Youtube looking for payment fee each video cryptocurrency upload on their channel, maybe they have tired with many video of cryptocurrency list on their channel every time, I think always have other media keep support with bitcoin and directly will have get positive respond when bitcoin back again to higher price.

Basically, they may not be doing this because they are against the existence of cryptocurrency content but against the scammers who we all times uploaded fake videos against the wishes if the YouTube. This I see as a sign of responsibility on the part of the YouTube, so, taking such drastic action is recommended to curb the access of these scammers. Although, looking at the current Price of Bitcoin might is a long awaited wishes from Bitcoiners.

It is because of scam related contents, there are many users of youtube have been reported that they been scammed because they followed the tips and recommendations of the youtubers. The youtube is only doing the right way in order to prevent more issues about scams but it is not okay that all of the videos about cryptocurrencies should be removed because there are some that have legit information.
A lot of big crypto channels owners are affected, and they concerned about it because many of them effective contents are delated. Youtube doing these from last year but still they're unable to remove all of those scam related content/videos. I saw many youtube channels are continuously making live stream in youtube about giveaway likes BTC and others coin.

YouTube banned many crypto related account in the year 2019 but after that still more crypto channel alvin even bad year 2020 January start banned lot of channel. After youtube abruptly deleted millions of videos related to cryptocurrency citing it and the videos have been restored.

Therefore, google owned company has not officially made any statement for this, a leading crypto-focused portal.
Cointelegraph has mentioned in a report that youtube has responded that the content was taken down by accident and since been it now restored.

While it doesn't really surprise me, I will admit that I didn't expect it. Considering how outraged people were at the last wave of bans, which was done pretty much just to screw with the industry, I know that a tiny percentage of it was justified as it were profiles giving financial advice, but then again, looking at the greater scheme of things, aren't all videos in some form giving financial advice? Check tech channels and them weighting different products and recommending the one they think it's best, that could be extrapolated as financial advice. And that's what makes this so stupid to begin with, is a placeholder rule they don't enforce equally on everyone.

It's pretty obvious that we know the reason, a lot of hacks and fake giveaways. Maybe they have to be clear though, what are the rules again, how many strike-out before your account gets ban?

I agree with the ban of crpyto related scams, and they should focus on it. However, if some legit channels are going to be affected, then they have to look at their process of banning, just saying.

If those legit crypto channels are affected then they should clarify to Youtube what TOS they violated. Otherwise they should be restore. Youtube should put all their efforts on closing down, not just crypto related scams, but there are a lot of materials in their platform that are also political and has malicious intent. So they shouldn't focus on crypto alone, just saying.

Not just YouTube i guess. Many social channel like Facebook, Reddit, Medium also banning 'legitimate crypto website'. In that case Twitter is haven for crypto spammers/scammers i think cause they don't care which one is legitimate and which are not. Grin Grin I will agree with you that it's a good decision if authority clean up scam/spam channel but other hand they have to more careful about their actions against legitimate crypto channel.

But we must check the authencity of the users so we wouldnt not fall to scams. One thing also, the purpose of comment section is to give feedback, people can use it to know the content if its legit or not. Regardless, I know lots of users shill and fake their review but this somehow let us go back to realization that there are some who will still see its being fake.
Other than through the comments column, we can contribute to giving warnings to others by reporting suspicious content or channel scams. Fraudsters really take advantage of all things, many of which are in the name of "premium signals" and the like which are said to be guided by experts, and many are found on YouTube. If we find out it's wrong, then just report it, at least it makes his reputation go down.

just like before, unless you can show at least one example of an actually legitimate cryptocurrency related content that was removed i am going to say it was justified because all the "contents" i have seen have been either scams advertising some sort of shitcoin or ICO or have been misleading people into losing money in trading disguised as "expert traders" and "trading signals".

as an example of useful content that will never be removed you can always look at Andreas Antonopoulos videos.

If youtube uses the same algorithm that they use for demonetizing other videos, then it is possible that they remove good content, but I don't think there's that much of good crypto content on youtube to begin with, and most of it is old and well-established, so it's unlikely to be removed. So maybe overall it's a net positive that a lot of scams will get booted out of the platform and less people will get scammed.

i don't think it is an algorithm they use to remove videos from their platform. it is mainly based on reports a video receives plus the topic/contents of that video. for example when someone is advertising an ICO scam or spreading wrong market analysis to mislead people into buying a pumping shitcoin and is reported, the video is going to be removed.
the "good content" even if reported, won't be removed because there is nothing wrong with them.

Maybe they just banning those reviews who are not telling the truth or has some false information regarding their projects. I mean, this is good because we only want to watch some legit reviews base on what is the truth behind those projects. I don't really care if they delete all of those fake contents because they're just adding oil to the fire of those slanders against cryptocurrencies. Last time I watch youtube videos about a certain project, they're just babbling about some things that didn't make any sense, I think that kind of contents has been added to the deleted crypto contents on youtube.

Banning cryptocurrency is not mean they refuse all forms of crypto currency on their platform, but there is an important reason why they banned it.
i believe that there are only few Videos that was banned and not all crypto related topics right?
Agree with what OP says, as far as I know, I have seen there are a lot of fake giveaways beside coronavirus. Like Elon musk giveaways who give a lot of ripple to the participant but they need deposit x btc first in order to get the reward.
because those scammers are using the most popular video place in the world in which YouTube thats why the YT management are doing its best to save their watchers also.

Those things are worst, cause some newbies out there will fall easily to this trap, you can see the way scammer is very shrewd to package the content. Maybe what youtube was done is the right thing to do, I can't see the bad thing happened crypto currency price when this news comes.
yups because those are their clients and they don't want to be blamed from those scammers job using their platform.

The youtube is only doing the right way in order to prevent more issues about scams but it is not okay that all of the videos about cryptocurrencies should be removed because there are some that have legit information.

If this is the real reason, why Youtube allowed other contents, like ˜traditional" investments, stocks etc?
There are tons of this content on youtube and I didn't see any content being removed like cryptos

I think this is a good point why legitimate ones are being banned too, I am not against youtube banning scam contents because they should really do it, but I am more concern on what are their basis anyway? What is the process? I also think legit content creators should be honest with their content. Tell them the risk, spread informations about fake giveaways, scams and other content that will lose their money.

Well, you may not agree with me but bitcoin has the image of a platform that is used in scamming. If a newbie tried their luck and get scammed, I think the response will be them reporting the video. They are more informed with the traditional investments and stocks, they already know the risk. So it is important to tell them honestly the risk of bitcoin too. Let us also help legit content creators to be know as a legit one. Recognize them, it will help the community as well.

You are definitely right. Sometimes, due to lots of contents uploaded on Youtube, legitimate channels are being banned because lots of scammers are producing content in almost the same appearance and form. They have their policies and regulations which makes lets them continue their function. It'll definitely become a bad point if there will be scamming and that their platform became the medium. In youthbe campaigns, there are most individuals who upload their content. I am sure that Youtube will continue to work to provide maximum quality for their viewers without destroying legitimate channels and content.

Its just right to ban it but they should be considerate to check out which one is scam and which one is a legit crypto content.
When it comes on banning fake giveaways and even those shitty ICO content then for sure all of us do agree with that.
We cant do anything in regards to this as long it do violates their terms and conditions which is solely to protect audience to
get involved into scam and other related stuff then it would really gets banned.

I don't think that Google or Youtube will be "considerate to check out" which one is scam or which one is legit crypto content. Just like we have seen in the December purge, they simply removed everything they deemed violated their TOS. They should look at how many fake giveaways first and shit ICO pumping promotion using their platform.

Yeah, their rules, but the problem is that many cyber criminals can still go around with it post everything in youtube and can get away with it. After a few days, post the same video, rinse and repeat.

Those issues came from only 2 youtube accounts that are newly uploaded videos, which I think probably youtube focused on the content and was removed because of related reasons against their tos. While the incident happens on december was a purge of all crypto-related content even the old uploaded videos and they confirmed its a mistake and was fixed.

This was probably one of the bad news that has been occurring right now because we all know that youtube is one of the best platform in which we can introduce cryptocurrency to other people and this is one of the many videos that has the capability to learn something on fields of cryptocurrency and that's why it is really a problem for us.

This is a sort of cleaning the entire community of youtube. Those deleted videos are maybe nonsense/pointless or just a scam project service to have their own benefits just like what happen to this coronavirus token project that fooled many people.
lol youtube cannot delete a video just because they find it very boring/pointless/nonsense, I'm using youtube and I'm telling you there are thousands of useless video that is not deleted, nonsensical facts and fake/edited events that is posted and still getting a dollar. If youtube will find a way if they can tell that a channel is promoting a scam or fraudulent stuff then might as well they delete it but my question is how? People could easily dislike a video they don't like and report anything.

Sometimes there are many toxic in a community that should be cleaned. Video creators should understand the youtube community guidelines and basic strikes and that is the reason that their video is safe for vanishing.
I'm not really into youtube for watching crypto related contents but just for my personal opinion there should be a deep investigation for everything that has been reported to them coz I'm pretty sure there are channels that is true to its work and has a passion for educating people about crypto related matters.

I never really understood why people get so hurt over this.

1. It's Youtube. Their rules. Don't like it, go to a crypto-friendly place like Dlive/Dtube/Twitch or whatever I'm not even sure. Tik tok.
2. Why would I want to see crypto content on YT? If Andreas A stuff is still available, and other educational stuff is still available, then I'm good. I don't need to hear of XYZ better than BTC crap on YT. If what you're reading's taken offline, then maybe, just maybe, you've been reading crap.

If there is no effective way to filter good from bad content, then the only correct solution would be to remove all content that is related to cryptocurrency. But of course Google (which owns YouTube) will not do this, as they would lose part of their revenue. As others have noted, most YT content related to crypto is actually pointless and bad, so the only ones protesting the tight controls are those trying to profit from inexperienced users.

According to everything I've personally seen in recent years, 80% of crypto videos are actually bad or pointless, but people still watch them - because for most it's not content that matters, it's presentation.

YouTube is banning crypto because there have been many instances where crypto related channels have been in the center of big scams. Another reason for ban is that some channel hackers have demanded cryptocurrencies to reinstate hacked channels from the channel owner.

These ban are driven by community response and youtube give a lot of preference to its community.

YouTube is all set on making money this year .
With an increasing number of advertisements plus the premium membership program , I do think it is indeed very smart but at the same time they need to understand that people valued the freedom they provided.
I see no reason for them to ban cryptocurrencies related content , they will ofcourse need it for the upcoming times when it will be officially used.
One should understand that , they are just making a part of their viewers angry .
When even the government is okay with this I see no reason why they should do this.

I believe that they are doing this for the benefit of everybody.
We know that some project is really enticing to see and people get attracted to it but somehow it turns bad and has a scamming end which is the Youtube channel have to work on it. They are actually saving us from this kind of artwork and I really appreciate their works. This is not probably about money but this is to protect their reputation as well.

I think youtube doesn't ban all the crypto content. If you search about cryptocurrency in youtube, you still see some videos related about crypto.
Usually youtube only ban a content which have been reported many times.

Much better to look for other alternatives out there.

I know the lbry.com, I have read about it a couple of months ago when youtube starts deleting some cryptocurrency content on their platform. BUT with all these alternatives for youtube platform, still people won't go out there simply because most of the channels are for profit/monetary valued by its creator. Who wants to talk in an hour without any in exchange? don't be a hyprocrite folks, in addition some people in youtube spent hundreds of days analyzing everything that they wanted to share with their audience and these following alternatives, none of them are for profit organization. Perhaps that is the very reason why people are still with youtube. On top of that is the popularity, youtube is default app in millions of phones.

Really hard to beat youtube despite of so many platforms trying to compete with them. There are also several crypto projects like buzzshow (https://www.buzzshow.com/), juiice (https://www.juiice.com), and others. Yet, they can't capture a good percentage of youtube viewers.
But youtube should watch and see the content of the video before totally deleting it. There are still some informational crypto videos that need to be out there. YT is the go-to of large part of population on earth so they should at least leave some good crypto videos.

Perhaps you could have seen the policies set out by YouTube itself.

One of the content policy clearly says when an allegation would be done on a channel and i guess one of the policy depicts the Crypto Channels here :

Quote
Scams: Content offering cash gifts, “get rich quick” schemes, or pyramid schemes (sending money without a tangible product in a pyramid structure).

Since most of the Crypto projects fall under get quick rich stuff and also MLM kinda projects they are banned straight away.

Also this one . . .

Quote
Promising money, products, software, or gaming perks for free if viewers install software, download an app, or perform other tasks.

Reference : https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801973?hl=en&ref_topic=9282365

About the LEGIT CHANNELS :

They always have a scope to contact the support and present their channel in best possible ways and look if they violate the terms of YouTube or Not. C'mon there is no alternative for this.

just like before, unless you can show at least one example of an actually legitimate cryptocurrency related content that was removed i am going to say it was justified because all the "contents" i have seen have been either scams advertising some sort of shitcoin or ICO or have been misleading people into losing money in trading disguised as "expert traders" and "trading signals".

as an example of useful content that will never be removed you can always look at Andreas Antonopoulos videos.

This happened last year but the YouTube gave a statement that they created a mistake and they un-ban the legitimate crypto channels so I am hoping that they are not doing the same mistake again. It will be good also if you can drop some legit channels that were being banned by YouTube so we can check whether they are now banning the whole crypto channels or those scam channels only.

Youtube is somehow related to authority and some governments really don't agree with the use of crypto in a particular country so it depends in the country that you are based on. It is not impossible for the crypto advertisements to become banned in Youtube as it is also taking care of its image and some people are not that knowledgeable about the use of crypto in our society. But that's the function of the advertisements, to help promote and accept the cryptocurrency in the industry so that it will be legalize in a certain country. As what I've said, it needs a confirmation of a government if they will accept the advertisement of crypto in other social media, not only Youtube. The main problem is because of the scammers, the government only get some reports about people being scammed by crypto that's why the image and the true purpose of bitcoin when it comes to government is being ruined.

I remember when Youtube banned a bunch of accounts some time ago, but within a week they solved the matter and apologized for that mistake. But to be honest, I don't see any reputable media mentioning such major restrictions that occurred lately. I see that something happened in February, and then Youtube banned a couple of popular accounts in March for some time and gave them strikes. So sometimes it happens, and it's terrible, but it's not just crypto videos. I've seen some of my favorite YouTubers complaining about the problems with Youtube algorithms. I guess, the problem is that there's too much content on Youtube right now, so workers cannot check it manually. Instead, they write programs that are supposed to do the job, but they often make mistakes because it's not that easy to tell a program what to look for that would not result in some mistakes.

Well, that's where the problem comes from as it is purely difficult to separate scam and legit cryptocurrency projects often atimes, i believe that's why people still lose investments in startups IEO and ICO's. The buttom line is just as vitalik butterin suggested last year, the cryptocurrency space need more of owned social and content media outlets, if not we'll just wake-up one day and see that these guys have shut us out

But I can still watch some content about crypto without a problem. I think they ban random people, and Youtube wants to see the impact. We don't know what their reason to do that is, but if they still ban people's channels that talk about crypto, that will not stop crypto become popular. Many other websites are similar to Youtube, although Youtube still the king in the video content. Or maybe Google wants to launch its own crypto, so they need to eliminate their competitor first before they start their project.
We can't deny the fact that YouTube have the most numbers in terms of spreads the platform reached more people and the influence is really higher compared to those competitors who serve the same purpose, it's impacting especially to those legit channels who provide good guidelines for crypto lovers.

Similar to facebook, I think youtube's algorithm automatically takes down a content if it has been reported plenty of times. They'll just wait for an appeal from the content creator.

Ivan on Tech has been doing AMA ICOs for a long time and some of his folllowers are probably fed up.

There are always 2 sides of the story.
One side is that they are removing content that is being reported and I know that in some cases people responsible for reviewing reported videos don't know what they're about but still delete them. For them it's better to be more strict than lenient to show that they're doing something "protecting the community".
On the other some vidoes are real scams. We all saw videos od bitconnect promotors and I'm sure they managed to hurt a lot of naive people by persuading them to invest.

When I was a video on youtube I saw a lot of crypto advertisement that I saw but now I  see some only and I hope they can able again advertising about crypto content. I think they have a good purpose why they banning it because they see some scam project so they need to implement that but I hope they consider still the good and legit project that gives an oppotunity to the people to earn  a real money because crypto is really legit only people is the scammer of that and they are using crypto in bad ways.

Honestly,,, why do you guys even care? All the good stuff about crypto and Bitcoin is right here on this forum, or learnable from the wiki and other discussion forums. Do we need some corporate crypto ad in our face? No I know I do not,,, especially when 99.9% of those projects are scammers or will be scammers at some point. I agree with the ban.

Then we will also a lot of upcoming complaints about those crypto YouTubers. Last time about this issue was extremely devastating, some crypto channel in youtube was suffered, almost all of the videos relating to some crypto was deleted by the Youtube, even they have a lot of views and lot of subscribers in the channel but after few days, some videos were able to watch again, it seems like a warning shot from Youtube?
But for me, this is good since a lot of SHITCOIN shillers in the Youtube who luring those newbies to invest, even in ICO. But I hope youtube will be careful about banning/deleting some video.

I wish all these affected channels would move away from YouTube to a decentralized video platform and have success on it. YT is abusing their power way too much lately. Why was it needed to take monetization off ANY video related to the Coronavirus? Why was it needed to take down crypto channels and videos? Why is it needed to censor the videos they don't want us to see and show us only what they want?

They're so pathetic. I hope some revolutionary decentralised video platform will take off and steal YT channels away from Google.

I am very sure this must have been a very tough decision for youtube to make, cryptocurrency videos and topics are no longer commonplace, many people post a lot of videos to teach new people a lot of things and also how to trade. But the scam videos and content seems to have outrun/exceeded the good ones, they receive a lot of reports and have to bring down so many videos everyday, I do not know if this is a permanent ban or just for sometime, but it was beyond doubt needed to save people from losing money.

Weird. I thought that after the first wave of bans around the December, they should have a list of which is legit and trusted. And that they shouldn't get the boot again if there are new bans.

Yes, the problem is that as we have said, those legit channels. So I wouldn't be surprised that they complains about this new wave. Besides, there should be a new of rules about the banning. Google and Youtube have fuck up again and those legit channels might look for a better decentralised video based alternative here.

That's true, I have watched a video about crypto before on youtube and then while reading comment sections I have read that someone suggested to delete the video because one of the rules of youtube is no crypto content,  so the next day I watch again on his channel and he talk about the video he posted yesterday, saying that he already deleted it and giving gratitude to the person who commented about the rules.

I really don't know why youtube made that rules about banning crypto content, crypto has been used by many people around the world like is and we want a continuous learning which we can learn well by watching on youtube  for me youtube is the best platform to learn things, just like some tutorials, we can learn more if we can see it while being performed.

Indeed, youtube does not allow crypto videos to be posted, one of their rules is no crypto content, I really don't think the reason behind that, crypto content is really helpful because there are so many people who loves crypto and is willing to learn about it and one of the best way that we are using for us to learn something is the youtube, before I became interested in cryptotalk so I research about it and I search it in youtube but nothing good appears as well as this forum.

But on my opinion the reason why they have been banned the crypto content is because there are so many scammed crypto websites and youtube will not let this happen so they provide rules about it.

I don't know what's going on with altcoin/shitcoin/ICO videos.I don't watch such videos and most of those videos deserve to get banned, because they are scam.
I did as well and I can't believe that there's an article like this. It's fresh and published recently.

Legit is a hard thing to find, especially with how the market is. The analysis wouldn't cut it since some are just spouting bs in the first half and then proceeds to advertise shitcoins in the second half. I doubt YT has the time to actually filter properly what content is good and what content is not, especially since the crypto scene in terms of videos and the like isn't really that developed. If factual knowledge were presented like definitions and the like, then it's possible, but if it's a vague idea that can be seen as a form of advertisement and or scam, then YT has every right to proceed with their actions.

as an example of useful content that will never be removed you can always look at Andreas Antonopoulos videos.
Viewers are often reporting the videos in the support of youtube because of the contents that are about recommendation into cryptocurrencies ir any project that can be considered as scam. Trading signals also are one of the videos that should be removed because there is no such legit groups where can give you consistent earning in the market. It is better if the youtube will really delete videos that can scam other people.

I cant say that the article is totally good. Yes crypto scam on YouTube is increasing but this will affect those legit one that gives true giveaway.

If this is the real reason, why Youtube allowed other contents, like ˜traditional" investments, stocks etc?
There are tons of this content on youtube and I didn't see any content being removed like cryptos
We need clear guidelines regarding to this action from YouTube, crypto related channels shouldn't be affected by this massive banning if they'll
provide information to those owners so complying will be more easier.
Though it weight from those reported scam the focused should not be in all or generalize but it should be sorted properly.

If it is like that, the promoter should have told the audience or subscribers to understand the risks when investing, and not all crypto youtubers promote or make videos about new projects or projects that have just launched IEO. There are some of them who only do daily trading, and now it looks like they are switching platforms.

This is not a smart move for youtube I guess, since there are really a legit crypto channels relying on youtube but once there are people calling it scam that has been reported to youtube without any given credentials that might be a lose for their platform coz what if that is just another channel showing disrespect to others? I get it, there are bunch of scams every where, I don't know what procedures the youtube are doing with reported channels but I hope they are considering the side of the channel as well. Youtube shouldn't be too supportive either way.

It's hard to understand this kind of rule of youtube/google, they are denying a tech product (cryptcoins)?
It makes no sense, because here in Brazil for example, there are tons of content that are/were scams, and it's advertising without any problems
The only reason I can think is some google's cryptocoin in a near future

A lot of legitimate channels are affected by this and that is just frustrating.

As far as I know last month, Ivan on tech was temporarily banned by YouTube and I think that is just unfair considering there are making content just like other content creators and their main content surrounds cryptocurrency. I think the main reason is that the fact that cryptocurrencies are decentralized and I think the platform is looking at it as a way to be against the government.
